PLITVICE NATIONAL PARK<<<<<JABLANAC>>>>>RAB ISLAND
CROATIASaturday 28th June 2003Arriving in Jablanac was a wonderful experience for me especially reaching here at dusk ! Prior to reaching Jablanac...I was in Zadar (which I had the chance to visit Plitvice National Park, from...);I didn't want to wait for the next bus which would be at about 8 am the following morning, I took the night bus heading to Rijeka but the bus would drop me at Jablanac....I didn't want to stay another night in Zadar either... I was warned by the girl at the ticket counter that there would obly be 2 busses a day to Rab Island so she wanted me to make sure that I would catch the first bus... I said "Okay..."....& got on the bus heading for Rijeka...which departed around 11.30 pm from Zadar. I informed the bus driver to wake me when we arrive at Jablanac....he understood me. I was really sleep & tired on the bus because on that day I went to Plitvice National Park & had to wait for the bus to get back to Zadar for 3 hours !... On the bus...there were 2 girls who chit-chatting & laughing all night long as if they were having a party at the back of the bus !....An old man summoned them something & they were quiet.....As quiet as the night... I dozed off...& was awoken by the driver, telling me that we had arrive at Jablanac....it was 2 am.... I got out from the bus....got my luggage & looked around...it was dark !...I thought Jablanac would be a town, with a bus station....so that I could continue my sleep..... I was wrong !...The bus stopped me at a junction where there was a road leading to the pier Jabalanc down below.... I felt lost....it was dark with occasional cars passing by.... Then, I saw this light....walking to that light....It was a gas station. Put my luggage down & sat down...didn't know & not sure what I waited for.... Felt a bit stupid....then, taking a 'leak' by the bushes....suddenly, a police car stopped by...
Will continue this.....

MUST SEE... The photo on the right shows you just a bit part of Jablanac that I managed to snap from the ferryboat... Well, if you have the time..if not hurry to reach Rab Island, then maybe you can wander around this small village by the harbour...I doubt there's nothing much to see anyway. |
The map on the right shows where Jablanac is situated in Croatia... As you can see there are many islands around the region. Jablanac is a jumping off point to Rab Island; Only if you come from inland destinations say Rijeka or Zadar (like I did...).
