Things To Do: My First photo...

This was my first photo in Rab island. Arriving in the morning. Waiting for the Tourist Office to open. Snapped up this photo.
This photo was taken infront of the harbour. It's called Gradska Harbour.
It was a beautiful morning that can't be described with words...

Things To Do: Walked Around Rab Town...

I was walking around the Rab Town for a while. Still the Tourist Office not opened yet.
Walking towards the right of the harbour. Caught this statue, almost grotesque. Wonder what's the story ?
It is situated also still infront of the harbour. You wouldn't miss this as there are lots of activities around this place. Shops, hotels are around this area.
At that moment, there's not that many people just yet....

This is the area where the statue is situated...towards the right. It looks like a ruin of a medieval place.
At night, this place is really amazing ! People selling souvenirs, stalls selling fruits etc.
Even during the day, the place started to be enlivened by people....

The Old Town is so amazing ! Cobble-stoned street. The houses as if the world stopped a few centuries back. Very nice.
This area is called Varos.
I guess if I had the chance, I would like to stay in one of these houses. I mean, I would like to brag to people actually about the feeling being in those houses.
I did take a peek in the houses, just looked the same, furnitures & stuffs...but living & at least for me staying for just one night would just be nice & great to me !

Another view inside the medieval area in Rab Town.
In the Varos area. Make sure you walk around this area, it's full of narrow cobble-stoned streets. Get yourself lost in here. You will feel that you are trapped in another era for sure.
I really want to live here !

Now, I am back to the small park where I first caught the grotesque statue previously.
Took photo of this monument instead.
By this time, I could see more & more people, mainly kids playing at the small park.

After had a rest in my private room, I was back wandered this area. Kept on walking to Kaldanac area where I saw this tower.
The Cathedral of St. Mary The Great (Sveti Mrija Velika) & its tower. Built in the 12th century. 25 m tall.

Kept on walking around the area. This is the Church of St. Mary.
I wanted to go in the church at first but there were some old ladies were looking at me as if...if I did enter their church, I would dirty the church floor or something like that !
Or maybe they were wondering at me as why would I bother to take the photo of their church & not them !

Came to the edge of the peninsula. Caught some amazing sea views.
Rab Island or the Italian name Arbe is near the centre of the Kvarner islands groups is one of the most beautiful islands in this archeopelago.
The Turkish, the Austrians, The French.. were all part of the conquerors who established their backgrounds here...
It's amazing to see the sea where history & scenic views interspersed with one another...

This is the Church of St. Anthony.
In Baroque style.
Built in 1675, the altar inside is decorated with 17th century inlaid marble & also a painting of St. Anthony.
This was a monastery of Franciscan nuns.

Rab looks like a nice place. You are indeed wearing all black. It was very hot this summer throughout Europe. It is worse at places where there's air condition is not common. |
