RIJEKA<<<<<VOLOSKO>>>>>OPATIJA

CROATIATuesday 1st July 2003....I first read about Volosko from my guidebook....A Fishing Village near Opatija....
I reached here by walking from the camping ground where I slept the previous night.....
It was a nice small town...almost a village...where yachts residing the pier....it was early morning.....no activities much, but people jogging along the esplanade, looking at me wondering which country I was from...going where....
Solitude I got here...feeling swell walking the embankment...seeing some old folks in their swimming costumes lying on the sands....
The buildings here look like what's left from the Habsburg era...but they are unkept...I wonder this small town has the rich history unto itself...
Found a bench to sit...& looking at some school kids chasing each other out...actually they were supposed to be in a jogging activity...Fun to watch them....
Walking along the embankment would connect me to Opatija....the real playground for the rich..
So, Volosko could be the place where the people could find some quietness ?...Could be....

MUST SEE...
Volosko situated about 2 km east of Opatija...
Opatija, by the way is about 13 km south-west of Rijeka.
The coastal promenade in Opatija would end in Volosko, so a walk along this promenade or embankment is a must from Opatija !
You have to come here if you are in Rijeka; A day trip maybe...
This place is so serene in the morning & I liked it very much !
Looking at the sun rising from the horizon made my head flew to many 'paradises' exist in my head !...
My advise is take a bus from Rijeka & stop off at Volosko; Tell the driver that...
From Volosko, you can walk along the sea to reach Opatija...

Very nice page, Arnaud...but since I live at the coast I prefer different scenery ....People always want wath they don't have :))
