ENGLAND
My last destination for the day !
Phew ! What a day that was...
From London, by train; 'Bomb-Scared' as we reaching Swindon, had to take the other route to reach Chippenham.
LATE ! My plan was ruined...
Had to skip Castle Combe & Malmesbury - only had the time for Lacock Abbey : A detour from Chippenham.
So, I reached bath from Chippenham, in early evening...
Looked for a cheap hotel, settled in Backpackers Inn.
Cosy place. Filled with backpackers of course...
I got a bed with a name 'Powderfinger'; That's a rock band from the 70's btw.
Cool...
A Korean even wanted to change my bed with his bed (called Britney Spears !); Not because he disliked the name but his girlfriend was lseeping on top of my bed...
He wanted to sleep below her.
No, I didn't change.
I went out on my own.
Bath is truly nice. A river running through this town.
Walked along the river, capturing the sights.
Now I know why I only saw 'flawed' photos of the water resevoir ! Not easy to capture it from the bridge where it's best seen !
Bath's old parts are intact & the new parts are full of restaurants, banks & shops...
The Cathedral stood erect in the middle of Bath; There are several churches as well...
The Roman Bath which i didn't have the time to enter, is a MUST SEE in Bath !
My excuse would be : I was late arriving in Bath & too early leaving Bath (for Bristol) in the next morning...
The Roman Bath was closed all the times when I was there, y'see.
Slowly, walked back to the 'inn'.Feeling tired...
Lied on my 'Powderfinger' bed.
A guy entered with just a towel wrapped around him. He got dressed & turned around.
Smiled at me, I smiled back.
Wait a minute ! I thought I saw him, I thought I knew him from somewhere ! ...But WHERE !?
We talked; He's Polish; Studying architecture in Prague; Trying to earn some extra cash in Bath. For his study...
I looked at his glasses instead of his eyes; At the same time, telling him about my Lacock experience...
When I mentioned Lacock, a name rang out in my head !
He was telling me something when I blurted out, "You Look Like Harry Potter !".
He smiled or rather, smirked...
Not to 'insult' his appearance, I continued, "...Well, I don't read Harry Potter anyway...".
We continued talking & decided to go out.
I got up & put my clothes on & chipped in, "Can I take your photo ?"
He said, "Sure...".
Oh good !
His name is Radek, beautiful name.
Radek took me on a night excursion around Bath & I took night photos.
Then, he said he wanted to show me something...
He's an architecture student so I thought he should know some nice buildings for me to capture.
He took me to a square....& it was dark !
Just to please Radek, I followed him & took some photos.
He said during the day, the square would look more nicer...
Slowly, we walked back when Radek told me that he wanted to fetch his girlfriend, Martha.
Martha started her part-time job that day in a restaurant.
We went to the restaurant.
She's not there, the restaurant was closed.
We thought that she could have been back earlier.
We walked back to the Backpackers Inn.
She was there ! Lying on the bed like a tired kitten...
Radek introduced us & that certainly led her to ask me many questions !
We talked & talked & talked...
Radek dozed off; The Korean couple dozed off; The rest of the back-packers also dozed off...
Me & Martha kept on talking...till it was very late !
I nearly forgot that I was in Bath ! She's full of stories indeed ! So chatty...
Lights off !
Good Night Baaaaarth !
(That's how you have to pronounce the name of this beautiful place !).

PAGE 1 : A glimpse of Bath night time & several night photos that I took around...
Enjoy my photos !
When I was doing my Bath page, I couldn't find any info on this church (I even thought that it wouldn't be a church at all !).
Nobody on VT has written about it; On The Internet, I was searching high & low for a name of this building, to no avail...Even Bath Website doesn't list anything on this building/church !
I always believe that Internet is still lacking vital infos when it comes to church names !
I was also at a site called 'FindChurchAround UK'...Clicked on Bath, came to a list of churches around Bath,...no, nothing is mentioned about this church !
SO WEIRD !
I had to find some people who reside in Bath, asking them about the tower & finally I came to a name !
So, I owe this vital info (for me, maybe not to any of you anyhow...) to
CRAIG B,
Thank you very much !

Excellent pictures and so much detail! I got to spend very little time in Bath but after reading your pages I've decided - I have to go again!
Thanks for the nice photos...Xiu.
Great page, amazing pictures and nice to hear you met Harry Potter from... Poland :-)
Wonderful page and great night shots!! Thanks for explaining what the weir is, cause I had no clue... I guess the Avon river in Christchurch NZ is named after the Avon here. Hope to visit as a daytrip from London next month!
Arnaud, excellent page about this lovely English town. I have been to many places all over Britain, but Bath is still missing.
When my parents were living in Jamaica, I went to boarding school in Bath for 7 years.Your photos bring back good memories ;-)
You're right, Bath is a gorgeous town...and you captured some great nighttime pictures!
my gosh! that was awesome... love the photos...
Hope you didn't fall in when taking the photos! The 1972 weir replaced a previous one as part of a flood protection scheme, I went to school nearby, and finding the tennis courts turned into a swimming pool was previously an almost annual occurance!
