Enjoying The Sights... The Old Town Review

I kept on walking, enjoying the sights of the buildings that I saw around Bristol...The houses, restaurants, pubs all have some ole-world charm about them.
Here's a photo that I took of a restaurant/pub along my walk around Bristol.
The name of the building is Llandoger Tow & it has been around since 1664 !
It may have provided the inspiration for Admiral Benbow in Treasure Island !

Address: King Street...

Enjoying The Sights... The Old Town Review

Another sight of a building that I saw in Bristol. Could be a house & I don't mind living there...Bristol is not a busy town at all but many people told me that Bristol will shine through & through when the sun set in on the horizon !
Too bad that I didn't wait that long...

The Floating Harbour, Bristol England - Bristol

The Floating Harbour, Bristol England

The Floating Harbour... The Floating Harbour Review

Next, I would continue exploring Bristol a bit further...Walked over The Redcliffe Bridge & stumbled myself upon The Floating Harbour.
I could see some small ships & buildings by the side of Avon River...
By the end of the 18th Century, an urgent remedy was required or Bristol's trade would suffer. So, in 1803, the river was dammed in two places - at Cumberland Basin and near Temple Meads. This formed a Floating Harbour, a section of river that was maintained at a more or less constant water level, allowing ships to permanently float without risk of grounding on the muddy bottom. The remainder of the river flowed into the New Cut.

William III Statue in Bristol, England

William III Statue... The Old Town Review

Then, I came to a square called Queen Square.
There, stands a statue : The Equestrian Statue of King William III; Which dated from 1730 by Rysbrack.
This statue was damaged during WW II, so it was removed to Badminton Park but was repaired & moved back to The Queen Square in 1948...

I walked towards the tower of ST. MARY REDCLIFFE CHURCH as you can see in the left photo...

St. Mary Redcliffe Church... St Mary Redcliffe Review

I didn't go inside The St. Mary Redcliffe Church, enough for me to marvel at the outer porch & the inner porch as you can see from my photos in the previous page.
Here's the tower of the church again, this time taken from The South Porch...
