SAINT ALBANS<<<<<CANTERBURY>>>>>REYKJAVIK (ICELAND)
ENGLAND
14th June 2004 (Monday)
Woke up at Reg's place in Hitchin. Took the train back to London & rushed to the bus station. Wasted times looking for the bus station...Pat was waiting for me anxiously; Almost late catching the bus !
A nice bus ride. Passing through Kent's countrysides.
In Canterbury, too many people !
Especially the kids (all ages) from school trips. I think all school trips in UK went to Canterbury on that day...
I don't have to describe the pre-puberty stench smells, 'emanating' from those kids !
Complaining, complaining. Yes, yes. Me, me.
Had a coffee break with Pat before going in to The Canterbury Cathedral.
It was like, "WOW !". No, not because of the cathedral but because of me, being there !
Nice, truly nice...the interiors ! Made sure I took off my cap before entering the place. Tourists were everywhere as well. Lines of school kids, walking close to one another; trying not to break their chains (of different schools maybe...).
Their smell...Pray God ! Seeped into The Cathedral...
Me & Pat busying ourself, taking photos all over the cathedral. It looks majestic...
We couldn't remember how long we were inside the cathedral, forgetting the world outside...
Slowly, we came out.
Spent a few more hours exploring the outside of the cathedral.
Some parts had scaffoldings attaching to the walls - renovations in progress.
lowly, walked out from the compound of the cathedral.
Had lunch.
Spaghetti Bolognese for me !
At Pizza Hut I think...
What did Pat having ? I really hoped he was enjoying it. Sorry Pat, ONLY Spaghetti Bolognese could 'quench' my hunger...
After that, we explored Canterbury.
Walked the streets; Seeing the buildings; Came to a garden, along a river.
Taking all the memories into our cameras.
At about 6 pm, slowly walked back to the bus station.
Ahh ! The kids ! I really felt that we were actually joining them for their school trips !
Yesss....that bad !
Safely back in London.
Thank you very much Pat, for this Canterbury trip !
In London, persuaded Pat to bring me to that Chinese restaurant again.
Afterwards, we went out on another night excursion (a safe one !) around London...
Harrods; Buckingham Palace etc etc.
Back to Pat's place. Back to the comfort of Pat's futon !

MUST SEE...
This is my trip with Patrick from London, who accompanied me to Canterbury (also first time for himself).
As usual, I took many photos in any world-famous place ! Canterbury couldn't escape from the lenses of my 2 cameras, digital & conventional....
Too many photos that I should present them by the pages or rather chronologically as we arrived in Canterbury; Inside & outside The Cathedral & also many photos around Canterbury itself, the garden, the buildings, the sights etc.
Here they are : [please click on the pages]

PAGE 1 : The photos on this page are showing the sights that I saw once we arrived in town ! Passing some 'ole' sights & slowly seeing & entering The Canterbury Cathedral !

PAGE 2 : On this 2nd page, you can see some statues adorning the outside walls of Canterbury Cathedral; Also photos taken inside The Kent War Memorial Garden, which is in the vicinity of The Cathedral...

PAGE 3 : Still inside the area of The Cathedral, you can see photos of The Infirmary Chapel Ruins...
THE INTERIOR OF CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL...

You often find that if historic places are in your back yard you never visit them LOL, well its true in this case, i only live 17 miles away from Cant, and the last time i went inside was when i was 8, thats terrible LOL
