Asian city ? Damn right !
Judging from (too many) Asians that I saw inside the airport, outside the airport...London might as well be called An Asian City !
The airport cleaners, the airport security officers, even the beautiful Indian woman who stamped on my passport, were all Asians.
Asian descendents ? Well of course...(say it with a British slang !)
These are also the so-called 'Londoners'...Nothing could ever change that !
Nevertheless, I don't feel like home (well, I'm talking about the airport here, okay).
I arrived to London several times within 3 weeks in this trip :
8th June; Flying from KL...
12th June; Reaching from Oxford after my COTSWOLD journey...
26th June; Delayed flight from the amazingly beautiful Iceland...
29th June; Hurrying up from Paris to catch my flight back to KL !
You would see what I did in London from my photos (soon to be uploaded, I hope), but just want to share this with you lot !
My 3 most memorable moments while being in London (first time for me !) are/were :
1) Cheap Chinese Foods !
They really bring me closer to home ! No matter how my hosts in London 'detested' me of even having a smell of it ! They (the foods) are mostly take-aways; Put in a box & eat while standing or walking ! Suited my budget excellently too. Also, "No pork, please !".
2) My London Friends !
Well, friends that I had a chance to meet anyway. They pampered me a lot ! Patrick (I know so many 'Patrick's in London anyway) who took me around the night scenes (the 'safe' night scenes...) around London. That double-decker bus ride was awesome Patrick !
Thanks heaps for 'the college men' also Pat. My regards to Mike, without him, ALL my digital photos will be swallowed up by Window XP !
Then, Reg (plus Steve) who took me to some 'not-that-safe' London night ( & day )scenes PLUS watching an Indie gig with Reg (plus Steve) was a memory that I will cherish forever !
Reg was with me in my first trip to Europe !
Pubs, churches, restaurants, museums, taking metros, walking around London...made my moments in London EXTRA special !
3) Last but not least, PLACES ! The usual suspects of tourist-attractions around London...These are what most people want to see anyway. Me too, me too...
BUT, alas...they were as predictable as seeing the paint drying & I think I should stay in London much longer (in each spot) just to make them 'up' for me !
So...,these made up of my London trip ! At least on this 1st trip.
Did I enjoy myself ? You bet, I did !
I wish I could stay longer; Money not permitting me, time also not on my side. Too many things to see & to taste; Next time, next time.
London, I shall be back !
The first time I brought it to capture as many night photos as possible & I am sure glad that London was the first destination (first city) for me to do so...I shall present the night photos according to these pages : [please click on the pages]
PAGE 1 : The first few photos were slightly shaky as I was on the double-decker bus; From Patrick's place in Sheperd Bush to Central London. Then, reaching The Thames, crossed Westminster Bridge; Taking photos of The Parliament & The Big Ben. Also the upper part of The County Hall...
PAGE 2 : Then, you could see The London Eye & more sights on The Thames riverbanks...It was a quite night, it's just so great !
PAGE 3 : On this page, you could see more closer views on The Big Ben; The Parliament, British Phone Booth; British Pub (me taking a peek...); Slowly walking to Trafalgar Square, seeing The Lion at Nelson Column (which was dark when I was there, maybe pass the hours...) plus The National Gallery...
- Pros:A Dream City To Most People, Like It's Graaaaaaand To Be In London !
- Cons:Err, Too Many Asians !? Go Figure !
- In a nutshell:Make Sure You Reach London Once In Your Travel...Or In Your Lifetime !
