SLOVENIAFriday 20th June 2003Ivan (my Slovene host) dropped me off in Postojna after Predjama, from his house in Ilirska Bistrica. Left me there but not without finding some infos for me to continue my journey, ever helpful he is ! I was here for the so-called Human Fish.
Managed to secure my luggage at the entrance of Postojna Cave; & took this roller coaster, a ride deep inside the bowel (well, almost) of one of the most beautiful sights in Slovenia.
The interiors are just so amazing, with rock formations aplenty adorning the cave's walls.
Took photos but I forgot one thing, should have a jumper covering my Asian body but I knew I would survive the chilly weather inside the cave...
Then, the human fish ! No, nothing like a mermaid; a mermaid is a girl, right? but this Human Fish doesn't have gender (sexless?) & they don't have eyes ! One question teacher, how do they mating (to put it more politely..) & having babies ?
They could survived for 2 years without eating, I am sure I heard it correctly...God's creations are just hard to figure but surely we all have reasons of being who we are, whether we are humans or..... fish.
Spent almost 1 & a half hours inside the cave then dragging my luggage to Postojna town & got on the bus heading to Ljubljana.

Arriving here from Predjama on 20th June 2003, Friday...

I love this cave and when I was there with my sis, we were in awe. My my roll of finished film of Postonja was lost! :( Another good page. Bravo!

That castle is pretty cool and the human fish seems interesting!! Those caves are huge....I wouldn't want to get lost in there!!

Thanks for you narrative story. However, the human fish looks to be a locals' and tourits' slave! Should not they make him free? ;-)

After all those years nothing seems changed here, even the human fish looks in good condition !!LOL Great page and pics !!
