There are 2 train stations...so, make sure where you want to get off....One is near the Pisa Tower, you wouldn't miss this impressive tower...& the other one next to the airport...
I got off at the first train station...simply because I saw that Tower !....
Walking...towards that Tower...but feeling that I was taking a wrong turn....Approached this nun,...well, she's wearing a nun costume...& asking about the direction to the Tower...
She's from Africa...so, I have never seen a black woman in a nun costume before....Did I take her photo?...Nah !..That would be rude, wouldn't it ?...
Anyway, she spoke more French...so, I was practising my French with her....walking with her as she was also heading to the Tower for a sermon or something like that...or maybe she had an exams....can't remember now...
I guess people were looking at us....these 2 odd persons....thinking to themself from where we were from...I just hope that they would not think of us as a couple....heaven forbids !!...
Anyway....we parted at the entrance....& everywhere were people...for that Tower;....Souvenir shops abundant.....people taking photos....
People love putting their 2 hands up to their fronts, while the photographers were instructing them to "make it lower, make it wider...higher, higher,..lower, lower a bit..."...so that the finished photos would give the virtual image that those people were holding the Tower between their 2 hands !!...Funny....
I guess if I was with a friend..I would do that myself....hah !...
Took photos....maybe 1 roll of film...just thinking that I was so lucky being there...feeling good....being at One of the Wonders of the World !...
I could see people on top of the Tower....& enquired about it....It was about 3 pm....I had to wait till about 5 pm..then i would have my turn to go up the Tower....
Yes !! I would wait....
Just walking around within the walls....Pisa is erected within a medieval walls....Took more photos...even the buildings..churches around Pisa are impressive !....
When the time approached, I was asked to go this Tourist Office so that everybody in my group would walk in line....towards the Tower...accompanied by a policeman...
Climbing up the Tower was easy.....I felt good !...
There were several parts/levels where we could go out & took photos....I think it was 3 parts...All had my opportunity for the scenes down below...
when I was fianlly up there.....it was really amazing ! More photos...asked somebody to take my photo....The Tower is of course tilted but I didn't feel that I was tilted at all !....
It was just for about 40 minutes or so...that each group could be up there....we went down the steps again....I felt good !...
Bid my farewell to the Tower...& walked back to the train station...
There were nobody there at all..I felt like it was a ghost town or something like that...considering that about 1 km away...thousands of people were clammering for that Tower....all around it...
..but at the train station, it is a different story....
Finally, a couple...from US of A....approaching me & asking me hot to get back to Florence....
I really didn't have any idea because I would be head back to Lucca but I knew that the last destination of the train would be to Florence...well, I told them that...
We asked somebody....& got on the right train....for me at least...We talked....about our trips....about my trip...they were like " Wow...! "....
I got off in Lucca..& called Geraldine to fetch me back to Monsagrati.....

If the Tower of Pisa is leaning straight, then we would be walking on tilted ground !
So, what you could see on my TIPS are just that, photos upon photos of The Tower Of Pisa & surrounding area :
Campo dei Miracoli.
Not enough of that, I managed to do ONE of my lifetime's achievement (dream ?) that is climbing up the Tower !

- Pros:Pisa Tower Of Course & Miracles Square...
- Cons:Most People Just Come Here To See The Tower; Maybe Like Me ?
- In a nutshell:Definitely Worth Seeing The Tower Of Pisa, ONCE In Your Lifetime...

following others pisa pages,discovered yurs and that the leaning tower, is straight ,now:-)) ,,,and still stands!
Great photos, I remember the sun was making taking photos very difficult, you have captured it very well. You are lucky to go to the top, they were strengthing it when we were there, so looking was all that we were allowed.
Nice pics of Pisa's amazing architecture. I like the tilted world pic, funny to see the tower being straight, hehe! ;-)
