A Galloping Experience !

CAIRO<<<<<PYRAMIDS OF GIZA>>>>>ASWAN
EGYPT

23rd April 2005 ( Saturday )
From Hilton Hotel, I would go to the pyramids !
I wanted to DIY again in reaching there, you know taking public transports but Patrick insisted that I should get a taxi instead.
Patrick said he knew this taxi driver, very nice & trusted by Patrick (I guess) that could bring me to the pyramids.
Reluctantly, I said okay.
It was a nice journey from Hilton to the pyramids, which are on the eastern side of Cairo; Another precint called Giza.

INFORMATION...

Giza is a governorate in itself. It is an area of 18 km from the bank of The Nile to the pyramids.
Here lies the sole survivor of The Seven Wonders The Ancient World !
The Giza Pyramids.
These pyramids are certainly the world's oldest tourist site !
There are 3 pyramids in Giza but the biggest one is called The Pyramid of Khufu.
It was complete probably in 2580 BC ! That's BEFORE Jesus Christ !
The pyramid was constructed of limestone, basalt, and granite blocks from two to four tonnes in weight each with stones used in the interior reaching upwards of 80 tonnes, adding up to a total estimated weight of some 7 million tonnes, and a volume of 2,600,600 cubic metres.
The oldest of the 3 pyramids...
A few hundred meters further, lies the smaller pyramid called Pyramid of Khafre.
More further southwest is a much smaller pyramid called Pyramid of Menkaure.
Also, situated in this area is The Sphinx, which has the head of a human but the body of a lion.
Probably completed nearly 4500 years ago.
It is 57 metres (260 ft) long, 6 m (20 ft) wide, and has a height of 20 m (65 ft), making it one of the largest single-stone statues in the world.
The Great Sphinx is an international symbol of mystery and controversy. It is the world's largest statue and one of its oldest, yet basic facts about it are unknown, such as the real-life model for the face, when exactly it was built, and by whom it was built.
This also applies to the 3 pyramids...
This is The Sphinx !
It is much smaller than you thought !
Believe Me !
