A 'Descent' Into The Underworld...

by coceng - last update: Aug 5, 2005

LUXOR<<<<<THEBAN NECROPOLIS>>>>>THEBES VALLEY
EGYPT
28th April 2005 ( Thursday )
This is another major highlight coming to The Midle East for me !
Theban Necropolis !
I am having goosebumps all over just to mention this site...
So many things to see; So many things to endure as well !
I was sort of arrogantly said to Patrick that we would walk to reach there right after we crossed The Nile.
Patrick said, "Whatever as I get tired of the hassles as well !"

INFORMATION...

Colossi Of Memnon
Temple Of Hepshetsut

THE MAPPING PROJECT
The Mapping Project is an organization based at The American University in Cairo, who intends to prepare a comprehensive archaeological database of Thebes.
Thousands of tombs & temples need to be protected in order to preserve them from men (robbers, thieves & mass tourism...) & nature (rising ground water, pollution & the extreme heat).
This interactive atlas would provide us all the informations (so far gathered) regarding the tombs & temples; Getting to know each tombs & view over 2000 images of this ancient site in fine details...

Very nice page and great photographs. Photography is no longer allowed inside the tombs, so I was not able to take pics when I was there a month ago. Cheers from NYC.

Thanks Arnaud for bringing back memories about the Valley of the Kings. You put your page right on its place in VT. You show me this way (Luxor is a wrong way here). But no, walls in the tomb hasn't been repainted - they has been painted not so far ago!
