C'est Ca Paris !

by coceng - last update: Jan 15, 2006

ICELAND<<<<<PARIS>>>>>GIVERNY
27th June 2004 (Sunday)
Zombie-ing into Paris ! Delayed for 7 hours at Keflavik Airport (Iceland); Arrived at 3 am in Stansted Airport (London) - missed the train/bus to Central London. Airport nightcab back to Sheperd Bush, 88 pounds.
2 hours unpacked. Caught the train to Paris...Checked in to the hotel & rushed to see some (many) flowers instead !
If I'm a jet-setter, it would be :
Supper in Iceland;
Breakfast in London;
Lunch in Paris !

The actual truth was; Complimentary meal for the delayed passenger (me !) in Keflavik Airport; A glass of orange juice (from the fridge) in London; Lunch in Paris ? Skipped it ! We're in a hurry to reach Monet's Garden !
So, I really saw Paris after coming back from Giverny.
Reaching Gare St. Lazare, feeling tired. Finalement, had dinner in a fine restaurant in Paris.
Back to the hotel, very near to Moulin Rouge !
Pat had a rest...
Me ? ...Hey ! We're in Paris, are we not ?! Called up a French friend, Alain. The reply was, "Hey Arnaud ! I'm down here in the lobby !".
Blessed me ! Assured Pat that I would be back to the hotel before midnight...
Anyhow, time took its toll !
Alain & me charted ourself along The Seine. ONLY at 1 spot that I managed to shout, "Oooh ! La ! La !...Je Suis A Paris !"...
That 1 spot was at Le Tour Eiffel !
Not that I wanted to shout because there were too many people loitering around.
Q-ing up to the tower. We could even see Japanese tourists selling water bottles.
Time was running...
I decided to go further. We took (almost) the last metro to Pere La Chaise; Alain said, ..."But the cemetery is closed !".
Well Alain, all I wanted was to be near to the place where they buried Edith Piaf ! Oh alright, ...Jim Morrison's grave.
Since Alain's place was just around the corner from the Cemetery Du Pere Lachaise, I decided to abandon Pat in the hotel room & slept at Alain's place !

2nd Day :
Continue next time...
Try this ! Escargots anybody ?...

PARIS SIGHTS ACCORDING TO ME...
Right ! I was in Paris, the most romantic city in the world ? Maybe...but I didn't fall in love with anybody there. I just had 'the other fun'...Had fun meeting people, had fun walking around Paris ! All done within 2 days & 2 nights when I was there with Patrick. 1 day we even had an excursion to Giverny & Vernon !
Our hosts in Paris, Alain & Adele took us for some good walks, seeing some core sights around Paris ! Well, I didn't go to Paris to know the names of all the sights that I saw, but I still would like to share my tips & photos with you guys; Simply because like me, some people would just snap photos because they like the sights, they like the colours, something looks interesting, something looks quirky...You get what I mean here.
Hence, I lay out my photos according to these pages : [Please click on the pages]
PAGE 1 : First 2 photos as I arrived at the train station from London; Eiffel Tower during the day; Crossing the bridge to take the boat excursion !

PAGE 2 : Here, you can see the sights along The Seine riverbanks; Some famous sights that I saw...

PAGE 3 : More photos on The Seine riverbanks, taken by me from the boat. Passing by Notre Dame Cathedral !

PAGE 4 : More photos along The Seine; Then, walking to Champs Elysees where we had our lunch; Me had Spaghetti Bolognese...Then, seeing Arc de Trionphe !

PAGE 5 : More photos on Arc de Triomphe; Then, walked to Le Marais...

PAGE 6 : We then arrived at George Pompidou Centre...
Don't miss taking photos around Paris at night !

PARIS NIGHT PHOTOS...
Don't miss taking photos around Paris at night ! I was only in Paris for 2 nights but that would give me a good chance to at least sample Paris' night life...hence walking around some good areas to be cherished as my memory in Paris. I only managed to capture some night scenes around Montmartre area with Patrick as it was near to our hotel...On the first night with Alain, the batteries on my digital camera were running out hence couldn't capture more photos for you lot to see; Next time I'm in Paris I would choose other spots to immerse myself in Paris' lights !
I lay out my Paris night photos according to these pages [please click on the pages] :
PAGE 1 : The first night where I took photos around Eiffel Tower with Alain; On the second night with Patrick, seeing Moulin Rouge, The Red District area & seeing Sacre Coeur !

PAGE 2 : Up Montmartre Hill, taking photos over Paris which is just so beautiful ! Photos around Sacre Coeur & the small area near Sacre Coeur called Place du Tetre , the atmosphere during midnight (taken by me...)where during the day, this is the place where painters & paintings mingle together with cafes & restaurants...

PAGE 3 : More photos around Place du Tetre...Then, we went down by the funicular & walked along some cafes, night clubs, food stalls around Montmartre & Pigalle...

PAGE 4 : A few more photos around Montmartre & back to our hotel...

CHURCHES INTERIORS...
While in Paris, I also managed to take photos inside the churches ! One is called St. Merry Church which is near George Pompidou Centre & the other one is the world famous NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL ! [please click on the pages]

PAGE 1 : 5 photos inside Saint Merry Church & the other 5 photos from Notre Dame Cathedral !

PAGE 2 : The next 10 photos from inside Notre Dame Cathedral...

Enjoy The Photos !

Oscar Wilde & Guy de Maupassant were 2 writers who HATED the tower! Both essentially said they'd climb because that was the only way not to see it - LOL! But I think la Tour Eiffel is tres jolie. :)
