Beautiful French Town...

by coceng - last update: Aug 12, 2004

GIVERNY<<<<<VERNON>>>>>LONDON
27th June 2004 (Sunday)
Me & Pat rushing from Paris to reach Vernon. We wanted to go to Giverny, to see Monet's Garden.
We had to get off the train in Vernon & took the bus to Giverny about 7 km away.
Not just us but many people, students & tourists alike got off from the same train.
We thought that Vernon wouldn't really offer us some nice photos to take but how wrong we were !
The bus which took us to Giverny passed through the town area which gave us many glimpses of the splendour of Vernon itself !
We decided to take some times after Giverny to explore Vernon...
These were the photos from my camera of what Vernon would be like !
I just love the sights of 'The Old Houses' ! The town itself looks laidback for a good stroll anyway.
It's a pity that most people would just stop here JUST to take a bus to Giverny...
What baffles me is that, My Vernon Page is the FIRST for VT !
I guess it takes somebody from Malaysia to come here & show you guys the views of an overlooked French Town !

MUST SEE...
Vernon is situated on the bank of River Seine...about 70 km from Paris. It has a very good transport systems from Paris with roads, rail coming in to Vernon from the France's capital.
Most people would reach Vernon because it's the nearest town to Giverny to see Monet's Garden.
Vernon itself merits good sights as my photos would convince you guys (hopefully) to explore the town easy walking areas, before you continue to Giverny or even after coming back from Giverny...
~
I took some photos around Vernon which I can divide them by these pages :

PAGE 1 : The sights that I saw around Vernon plus The Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame...
~
PAGE 2 : Walking back to The Train Station...
~
PAGE 3 : The Interiors of Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame...

Enjoy My Photos !

Nice Vernon page, Arnaud. Thanks for the lovely photos. You are right - most of us just pass through but I visited the Church several years ago when it was being renovated. Looks like they did a wonderful job.
