MOGWAI MOGWAI MOGWAI MOGWAI MOGWAI | Mogwai live in Kuala Lumpur Convention Center |
MOGWAI LIVE IN KUALA LUMPUR Read about my experience of my ecstatic joy at the concert ! You also get to see 1 1/2 minutes of their pure white bliss... (click on the above link) My Most Relaxing Trip & An Enjoyable One Yet ! Another good trip for me. I'd say this is the most relaxing trip that I've done in my life ! I always tell people that my trip is my own amazing race but I somehow slow down a lot in Uzbekistan. It used to be train-hopping around India; Temple-hopping in Cambodia; Wake up early just to catch up trains, planes & automobiles around The Middle East & Europe; Crammed so many places in a day, now that was so much fun ! No regret whatsoever ! This is my 9th individual trip (I traveled twice in 2006), I don't have to prove anything to anybody apart from my own self. I traveled for myself.
For this trip, with USD 20 budget per day, I set sail. Most people could easily see Uzbekistan in 2 weeks but I was there for 3. Most people probably could cram Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan...even Afghanistan in their trip around Central Asia but I only set foot in Uzbekistan only.
I chose one country that I really wanted to see. I could easily cross over to Kyrgyzstan because I (Malaysians) do not need visa to enter that country but that didn't happen.
I purposely stucked myself in Fergana Valley, in a town called Kokand. I stayed there for 1 week ! How's that ?
It's not just the town which hinder me from going further but it's my own decision to just settle down at a place, moving around freely in a slow pace.
I finally convinced myself somehow that this is my holiday as well. I wanted to wake up late in a place where I could be comfortable in. Kokand sums up this decision nicely.
This is also the trip where I spent times talking with fellow travelers. Listening to their tales, experiences, anecdotes & mishaps make me feel so good being ONE of them. Having chats & discussions in some of the oldest cities in the world is a good good feeling indeed ! Marco Polo, Alexander The Great, Jenghis Khan & Tamerlane were some travelers who also passed (& then ransacked !) these cities !
Laurent from Portugal would boast how he passed through Afghanistan; Kenneth would enthused about anything Turkey although he himself is from Canada; That 20-year old Korean girl laughingly told us that she was perceived as a 'bad girl' simply because she liked traveling alone; Satoshi, the Japanese guy who's willing to part with his mates because he wanted to see that old oil platform buried deep in a village somewhere, which was only listed in his guidebook; Phil from New Zealand who looked like a Tajik man with his skull cap (not to mention a bit of a hard tempered); Kamel from France (he's originally from Morocco) who used the word 'haram' (an Arabic word meaning 'prohibited in Islam') that makes the locals respect him, well... sort of;
Then, there's Nicole...a Travel-Mama from Switzerland would talk one whole day about her trip around Iran & Afghanistan during her Hippy Trail Days in the early 70's; She's seeing those places again now; Also Carol...a 70-year old granny (she called herself an old nurse) from Australia who still have the passion to travel solo in some un-touristic places although women her age whould just want to whisk away on a rocking chair; |
These nice travelers contribute their parts in my trip simply because I spent times with them, traveled with them for a while. You'll see them in my videos around Uzbekistan !
Then, of course the locals ! The kids, the adults, the men, the women, the vendors, the drivers...even the nobodys on the streets make my journey throughout Uzbekistan such an enjoyable ride.
It seems that these people were more interested in me, my country, my travels & my musings on life than the people that I was in touch with prior to this trip.
I got invited for tea even for a good meal by just a stranger who sat next to me on buses.
Many people said, "If you can't speak Russian, it's hard to travel around Uzbekistan !" BOLLOCKS !! A simple gesture, a good smile, a humble greeting...anybody could be bonded right away. These are the human language that everybody would understand.
Unlike on The Net, you tend to look at people's profiles. If you like what you see then you think he or she can be your friends for life or friends for ONE NIGHT !
I told this to the travelers & also to the locals that I met & we all laughed at the stupidity of these so-called literate ones. PAH !
So, There'll be photos & videos for me to upload. You'll see my journey through Uzbekistan though them even better.
Consider yourself lucky if you'll see them on The Net. Or rather if I have times to upload them all. If I want to share them with you lot.
After all, I took/captured those photos & videos for my own memory in this short life.
So, where to go next year ? I miss Europe but my currency is too weak to be converted to Euros, for my travel budget. It used to be affordable but these days, it's almost impossible. I still haven't managed to reach South America as I promised myself simply because I still couldn't find a cheap air ticket from Kuala Lumpur to anywhere near South America. Maybe I'll go somewhere nearer, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji or Indonesia. Maybe I'll visit my friends in the States. Nothing is planned yet. Let see where my travel budget would take me. Let see where my 2 feet would bring me.
See you guys next year then !
Ciao ! |

Me ! Me ! Me ! I have never owned a credit card ! My salary is too little to grant me one !
I never carry a condom when I travel ! I never have THAT kind of fun ! I'm scared of AIDS & HIV...I have other kind of fun though !
I smoke !..But I never do drugs or weeds when I travel. I don't do these things in my country it's pointless for me to try them overseas. ()_() (*.*) (.)~.~(.) /(_)-(_)\ WHY I TRAVEL ? Hi girls & boys ! TRAVEL started as an afterthought for me ! Some time in early 2001, I called up a friend, dragontml ( I call her Leng or Marleen, depends on my mood...& she also introduced me to VT ! ) & told her that finally I wanted to TRAVEL ! There was a long silence from her on the phone line..."Hellooooo ?!", I retorted back. She couldn't believe what I just said ! Actually all my friends, local & abroad couldn't believe what I said ! Well, on my part I got pi**ed & annoyed pouring money into something that I didn't get ! I was/am a music lover, y'see... I spent way too much money bidding/buying music from the Net. I was years on ebay.com, bidding this & that...Paid the money but sometimes I didn't get what I paid for ! Especially the CDs that I really really wanted to own. I was thinking maybe I should do something else with my money... Then, on that night...I was looking at my CD/vinyl collections & "Gosh ! I Do Have Tons Of Stuffs !"; But I hardly listen to them, just stacking one CD/vinyl after another...till they would be as high at The Twin Towers in KL ! (Well, so to speak...). Again, I was thinking maybe I should do something else with my money... The word 'TRAVEL' just snapped in my head & I called my friend above. Now you know ! Not that you want to know anyway... SO ! Where to go ? It's not that important but I said to myself that if I really want to TRAVEL, I would give these 3 things to be the first & foremost : HISTORY SCENERY FUN...BIG TIME ! (small time is okay too...)~*~*~*~*~6 years I have been travelling now (MORE than 20 countries ! Like WOW !), took lots of photos (nearly 3000 plus !); Still I was just barely contented ! I want to take the best photos ! I want to take much much better night photos ! October 2003, I bought myself a digital camera (ask me & I'll tell you what brand !) & I am so happy as it has made me to explore more places in my own backyards ! Didn't really bother before that... Been snapping & snapping & learning how to make good photos...nevertheless I would call myself an amateur when it comes to photo taking. (....And ask me which is the best AA batteries to continuously taking up to 200 photos at high resolutions !). SO, the 'habitats' photos on the pages below are taken from my digi thing ! Check them out if you dare !

VIRTUAL POSTCARDS : <\---/> ( . . ) -----ooO--U--Ooo----- Virtual Postcards -------ooO-Ooo-------I have created many virtual postcards from my own travel photos. They are interspersed all through my travel pages. You can find them on the Travelogues at the bottom of the pages. MY MOTTO-GROTTOS : Before setting off your journey, scribble these somewhere on your luggages, suitcases, panties, underwears, thongs, T-shirts, CD covers (on the outside cover as not to ruin the paper cover), etc :
Road maps don't tell you how to fold them up again
Never risk more than what you can afford to lose
One's real life is so often the life one does not want to lead
Why raise a fist if you can't raise a finger !
If you don't have fun out of bed, it's so difficult to have fun in bed
If God had intended man to be unfaithful, he would have created 2 Eves !
