  • Fondest Memory: Mongkok is famous for its markets. At the Goldfish Market, tropical fish in bright hues dart around playfully amid coral in tanks. The market operates from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day. A visit there might just be interesting even if you aren't really a fish enthusiast.

You can take a MTR to reach there, just 5 mins walk from Prince Edward MTR Station.

It is a leisurely and inexpensive ride (HK$2 per ride) to see the Hong Kong Island. The tracks is pretty much a line along the curves of the island with just one extra loop to go into the Happy Valley area.

  • Fondest Memory: 369 meters high, 72 floors. It was the tallest building in Hong Kong when completed in 1990. Designed by the Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei, BOC is a striking hard-edged asymmetrical structure featuring triangular prisms that create a changing vista as one views it from different sides. Triangular bracing and step-backs are structural adaptations to the high wind loads caused by Hong Kong typhoons. However, the sharp angles violated traditional good feng shui principles and created a major controversy when it was built.

Address: 1 Garden Road (corner Murray Road). 10 mins walk from Admiralty or Central MTR Station.

  • Fondest Memory: This headquarter of HSBC office tower
is probably the best known and widely publicized building of the decade, largely because it was claimed to have cost more money than any other building to erect. Using steel frame and glass, it remains a unique architectural achievement and a small wonder of the modern age.

Address: 1 Queen's Road, Central. 5 mins walk from Central MTR Station or from Star Ferry Pier.
