  • I stayed in Libra Guesthouse which is introduce by the Let's Go Guide Book. It was great! I especailly love the garden, good place to hang out, besides ordering food from the guesthouse, I can also buy food from market and eat there. Rooms very clean, friendlt & helpful staff. No hard sell for their trekking tours.

    Room with attached hot shower:
    Single 150 Bhat
    Double 200 Bhat

  • Nothing fancy. Clean hotel, that's is. However, it's pretty easy to find a room here, so, if you are like me, arriving late at night without advance reservation of accomodation, this is a clean place stay and always have rooms available.

Double room with attached toilet & shower (cold shower) = 220 Bhat.

  • This is the guesthouse I stayed in Chiang Khong. Nothing fancy, but clean, with shared toilet and hot shower. Their resterant have beautiful view over Mekong River. I took a package, 1550 Bhat including bus from Chiang Mai to Chiang Khong, one night stay in Chinag Khong, one dinner, one breakfast, one lunch, and slow boat ticket from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang.

  • Unique Qualities: This is probably the ONLY guesthouse in Chaing Mai with a swimming pool. Single room with hot shower at 250 Bhat. It's a bargain. Sorry, I forgot the name & address, it's located just next to Libra Guesthouse. I didn't stay here because all rooms are full.

I really liked your restaurant tips! Eating local food is a great part of travelling :-) The jungle trek sounds like fun, but 3 hours on a raft like that sure sounds like loooong time!

Since you went to Changmai, have you been in Ma Hong Son? There are more jungle activities!

Great pages Virginia. I did a similar trek last year but my bamboo rafting only lasted 30 mins. 3 hours! how did you cope. I might check Libra guesthouse out this summer. Thanks again for very useful tips! jon

Good tips! The bamboo rafting looks a bit scary...
