Bridger Bay at the Northern tip of the Island

The views from the beach are spectacular and the lake offers a smooth surface that seems to go on forever. The lake is very shallow at Bridger Bay so you can walk out a ways before you need to hike your shorts up. They have bathrooms and an outside shower area to rinse the water off – which was great.
Unfortunately there are also a lot of flies near the waters edge because of the brine shrimp. They are no fun but they mainly hang out by the edge of the water so once you are further inland or out in the water they dissipate.

Where the deer and the antelope range

There is a lot of wild life on the island. The first thing we saw was this antelope – fitting. We also saw several different types of birds, tons of bison, deer and snakes.

West Side of the Island

You can’t drive as far down on the west side of the island as the road only goes so far down that side. There is access to a couple of the beaches and a café at the top of the hill though so you have options.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Great photo and wild life viewing opportunities
  • Cons:Hot, hot and hot
  • In a nutshell:Great place for a day trip – just bring lots of water.
