Getting TO/AROUND: Most people probably arrive in Singapore by plane.
Changi airport is located 20 km east of the city centre and has been ranked as the best airport in the world.
I can understand why, this airport is amazing!
Not just that both check-in, baggage reclaim and customs work very efficiently with no queues, there are plenty of activities for the traveller.
Lots lots of shops, an internet café, a roof-top swimming pool, a casino, a cactus garden, waterfall, an orchidee garden, sports centre and many many restaurants and cafes.
And these are just some of the facilities.
Singapore airlines is the main airline operating at Changi but most of the other larger airlines fly into Singapore.
Many buses run between the airport and the city centre and taking a taxi is cheap.

Yes and about fast arrival...
The time it took from when my plane landed until I was sitting in a cab heading for the city centre was less than 30 minutes.
That included getting off the plan, immigration and baggage reclaim.
I can only say I am deeply impressed, some other Asian authorities should really come to Singapore to learn how to efficiently handle arriving passengers (which was also done in a friendly way).

Getting TO/AROUND: This is the interior of terminal 2 at Singapore Changi airport with the great waterfall. The terminals are full of flowers which make the atmosphere very relaxed and enjoyable.

Getting TO/AROUND: The underground of Singapore is called Mass Rapid Transport or just MRT.
There are two lines, the nortsouth (which you mostly will use if you live in the city centre) and the eastwest which was recently extended to Changi airport.
It is amazing how clean the trains and stations are, probably mostly because of the fines for littering or eating in the underground.
The tickets are cheap, you normally buy a travelcard which looks like a business card and then you load it with an amount of money, you validate it when you enter the station and when you reach your destionation you validate it again and the machine calculates the fare of your journey and deducts the amount from your card.
I never understood how it works when it's so convinient.
