Setubal is one of Portugal's largest cities set on the right bank of the Sado River. Said to have been founded by the grandson of Noah it is famous for Moscatel wines and sardines, but also for its Port and the shipyard Setenave (extension of Lisnave, in Lisbon one largest on Europe). Grapes from this region have been praised since the days of the Roman's and Visigoths. You will also find orange and cork groves as well as sunny beaches (Troia, for example, in the other bank of the river is wonderful). |

Moscatel Wine has a very different description but I'd try it:-) That is a huge fortress, quite a history to it too. | piccolina Mon Jun 17, 2002 21:13 UTC Interesting info....:)))...pretty place..! | Krystynn Tue May 7, 2002 08:32 UTC A beautiful place.
