Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia Is centrally located on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Covering an area of 243 sq. km. Kuala Lumpur was conferred city status on February 11 1972 and declared as a Federal Territory in 1974.

Kuala Lumpur, meaning a muddy confluence, had its origins as a shanty mining outpost for the tin trade in the 1800's at that confluence of the Gombak and Klang rivers. Today, KL as it is popularly known, is a bustling metropolis, the principal center of trade and commerce, banking and finance, information technology, politics, entertainment and international activities.
