--"The City of One Hundred Towers and Spires When my daughter said she wanted to go to school here for her 2nd semester 4th year of architecture school, I was both leary and excited. It was a bad time for an American to be in Europe (with the Iraq war just beginning). But the experiences she gained were well worth the anxieties I had. At the end of her semester, I flew in to meet her and go on a 2 week trip through Europe by Eurail. First, though, she showed me around Prague for a couple days. |
| | By Europe standards, Prague is inexpensive. So it is becoming a very popular tourist area lately, especially amongst student age people. Because Prague escaped the ravages of war for so many centuries, it is the ideal place to go to see architecture heritage. While I was there, there was even a free Prague Symphony performance in the city square. Fantastic culture and history in the same place! I also loved being there at the end of June---it smelled wonderful! The city had lots of flowering trees which made the whole city smell great! |
Under the Communists, Prague was the showplace of the Warsaw Pact. Although it went through many really tough economic times, since the 1989 Velvet Revolution it has begun to prosper and transform into one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. | | |

Echo_29 Fri Dec 24, 2004 01:33 UTC Your tip about Bohemia Bagel was so accurate. Bottomless soda? Yes! After being used to drinking 20oz sodas in the U.S. and then getting served these TINY bottles in Prague cafes, it is a nice thing. | oldgi Fri Jul 2, 2004 06:14 UTC Ah Prague, Great Photos! All The Best,Matt | dinhyen Thu Jul 31, 2003 21:11 UTC Again I love many of your perspectives. Interestingly we've got an almost identical shot on Vaclavske Namesti. |
