O Roma, O Amor, O Morte!

by heli - last update: Dec 28, 2006

Amici mihi carissimi in Foro Romano
Yeah, I really do love Rome. :) In that picture there you can see my two dearest friends sitting near Arcus Constantini and look at that view over Forum Romanum. Just guess how fun we had there! With everyone speaking Latin and translating the many inscriptions to English and Finnish we nearly died of laughter!

Ah, I never tire when talking 'bout Rome! I loved that place! I laughed most of the days! Oh, the folly of youth... Of course we also toured some of the "must" churches, catacombs and other nice places, not to forget Vatican and thestatues of the Garibaldi family. (Yes, I still think that Nizza belongs to Italy and that it shouldn't be called Nice... Heh, that's what you get when you start studying Risorgimento.)
Besides, "Rome Sweet Home" as it goes, every Roman Catholic should at least once in their life visit Rome (since it's practically impossible to pay a visit to Vatican and all the places of pilgrimage without setting foot on Rome at some point... Heh.)

I just wish we (our school group) hadn't had such a hurry all the week, since we missed most of the places a true Catholic would want to see. Oh well, there's still time (hopefully) to go back and this time take it more slowly. Not that running the race 'round Circus Maximus wasn't fun ;) even if I lost. An experience it was, yes, and great fun. Something to remember.

Si, Rome indeed has given me many memories and hopefully in the future I will also gain lots of new memories from there. Right now I just wish I could hijack that class again and go back to those days, but I guess that's impossible. Maybe a class reunion meeting some year in the future? Should be fun, surely!
