A pretty cool Goth/Industrial local scene night in downtown Denver - especially for Saturday nights. Free cover before 9:30, and 2-for-1 drinks from 9 pm - 11 pm. Goth, Industrial, Deathrock, EBM, Synthpop, Darkwave, and 80's. DJ Slave1 does a great job playing some fantastic selections. If you're in Denver and attracted to this kind of music, this is the place to be on a Saturday night. Review Rating of a 4 out of 5.

  • Denver's only full service Cyber Cafes ... an incredible hotspot of local activity from dancing, art gallery, poetry readings, a full bar, a full service restaurant, poolhall, the best jukebox in Denver, free wireless, and a venue for many events. Definitely a must-visit and must-hangout place to go in Denver's downtown. Conveniently located and home to a friendly and great staff, you won't be disappointed with this great place. Live at The Colorado Dark Arts Festival
    Downtown Denver, Colorado

Deviant put on a great performance at the Church for this years (2006) Colorado Dark Arts Festival. I haven't seen them since the SLC Dark Arts Festival a few years back. Performing their favorites and some from their recent album, they even experimented with some new stuff which had a couple of retakes, but they overcame the incident and still kept us dancing and captivated. Deviant was formed in 2002 by vocalist/lyricist London, and the multi-talented musicians D'MacKinnon and Marcus Wilkerson in Denver meshing together rock guitar riffs, electronic melodies, and driving industrial drums creating their electro-rock presence that has been creating a large following in the Goth scene. Absenta was their first album release receiving praise from DJ's, college radio, and the underground scene. Deviant won 3 awards at the 2003 Colorado Underground music awards and several tracks off of "Absenta" have been featured in films such as "Throttle" and appeared on compilation albums with other bands. They have since released "Drain You" and "Masochism" CDs as well and are in the works on their next CD. Review Rating of a 4 out of 5.

Located in a artsy art-deco cathedral, this multi-roomed/ multi-bar club has an ambience worth dying for. With a delicious sushi bar in one of the back rooms, this bar has it all. I visited during the Colorado Dark Arts Festival and had an incredible time at their establishment. Sunday nights they have Goth in the basement and hiphop up above. Rating: 4 stars out of 5.

Enter into a very classy and ambient bar with a very friendly staff and drinks of the potency I miss from L.A. and Seattle days. Four rooms, 3 floors ... two floors open for this event - The Shelter has an incredible venue space for concerts, dancing, and entertainment. I'm looking forward to exploring this nightclub some future weekend ... as my first visit was with the 2006 Colorado Dark Arts Festival where I was mesmerized by such incredible acts like "Zombie Girl", "The Siren Project", and a plethera of performance art and dance. I was impressed by my first visit .... 5 stars out of 5.

An incredible talented band ... The Siren Project will enchant you and entice you into their otherworldly realm. Formed in 1998 by Malgorzata Wacht (from Poland), a new musical experience was unleashed upon Denver's music scene. Blended with keyboardist Alex Seminara, drummer Arbon Reimer, bassist Ian Preston and guitarist Greg Stretton, be prepared for an acoustic journey when hearing them together. Haunting and otherworldly melodies will intertwine with simple rhythmns and subtle riffs pleasing almost all audiences. She received "Best Female Vocalist" in 2001 (Colorado), and has been a repeat performer for several years at the Colorado Dark Arts Festival. They contributed their music to the "Education in Infestation" double disk project along with H.R. Giger, Clive Barker, Joe Coleman, Jello Biafra, and many other great artists. True to their name ... and mesmerizing enchantment ... they do have resemblance of enchanting magic as did the sirens of old fables. An incredible act.

    "Lipgloss" @ Club La Rumba
    Every Friday - 99 W. 9th Ave. • 303 -572-8006 • One block west of Broadway • $5 Cover after 10 • 21+ Only • $2 G&Ts • $2 PBRs
    http://www.denver3.com/index.html

DJ's Michael Trundle and Tyler Jacobson

The evening started off with a small mile walk from the downtown Holiday Inn to Club Rumba where "Lipgloss" - Denver's hottest Brit pop night springs to life every friday night. Free cover before 10 pm, and $2 gin wells and PBR's .... its a night of good affordable fun. Arriving at 9:30, there were only a dozen or so starting to mingle, and by 11:00 the dancefloor was crowded ... a good VJ display of imagery started the night in accompaniment of some of our favorite Brit pop classics. There were a few misquides as a guest DJ ventured away from Brit Pop with some hip-hop pop; but short-lived as they returned to our British alternative flavor ... glam, britpop, indie, and rock ... trancing into 80's funk - the dancefloor and stage was wild demonstrating Denver's competition to the now-defunct famed Luvafair of Vancouver, BC and Neighbours 80's in Seattle, Washington. This has been the first 'happening' britpop night I've been to in the states ... a musical venue much needed in the land of the red/white/and blue. If you're ever in Denver on a friday night, it would be an ecstatic loss to miss this night. Staff of La Rumba were incredible and while the drinks were weak on the national average, they were certainly affordable. The DJ's were fantastic and addressed inquiries and requests quickly and very friendly - knowing their stuff, I'd recommend them for any event. The Denver3.com. Rating: 5 stars out of 5.

Rock Island Club: Goth Night @ Rock Island
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Nightlife Spot: Rock Island Club

A double-floor club night with three rooms - two of which are all-ages, and the third a 21 plus bar room. Serving Goth, 80s, Dark wave, Industrial, Techno, and EBM - the club has plenty of room to dance and sway to your favorites upstairs or downstairs. Great staff and bartenders ... good music and great DJ's ... its a mish-mash of various groups, individuals, patrons, and ages. More or less a younger crowd, its definitely an entertaining night. Fallout/Shelter: Fallout at the Shelter
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Nightlife Spot: Fallout/Shelter

Denver's newest Goth night brought to you by the Milk Bar and the Shelter. Enter through the alley in order to avoid the house music above; as well as not having to deal with the lines the yuppy/hipsters deal with ... and enter the complex of rooms downstairs that is "the Shelter". "Radiate" in the Goth / Red Room and "Mutate" in the Green Room, and smoke on the rooftop patio that is separated from the hipster realm. Though if you choose to wander to the handful of other rooms and musical venues, and other rooftop smoking patios, you'll find a multi-floor complex of clubbing and crowds. 21+ with $5 cover, with $4 pomogranate drinks or $2 Heineken lights. Dance to the music of DJ Siren, Ivo, Fleisch, and Dave Vendetta. Dancing entertainment by Denver's Cyber Fetish Dolls. Its a good club and is starting to radiate ... Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5.

A artistically enchanting elegant bar with a friendly staff. Plush seating and rich decor. I visited the Salotto for the first time after our Zombie Crawl. I'll definitely be back. Had no idea this little entity existed and I'm doubly impressed. Great drinks, good prices. Good pizza too. Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5. Visited 10/21/06.
