Lipgloss - Denver
La Rumba: Lipgloss

DJ's Michael Trundle and Tyler Jacobson
Hip shaking, drunken fumbling, frantic and wild dancing, arm swinging, spine tingling, hop around fun. Friday's fun on February 9th, was definitely a blast with mesmerizing music favorites. Indie - Brit Pop - Electroclash - 80's - Alternative - Pop. Fun was had by all. DJ's Michael and Tyler made La Rumba shake. Guest DJ Mike Joyce of the Smiths, enchanted with his musical spire. His sets were fantastic and kept the dancefloor phenomenally moving. What a great night! If you're ever in Denver, never miss this night. The Denver3.com. Rating: 5 stars out of 5.

Denver's only full service Cyber Cafes ... an incredible hotspot of local activity from dancing, art gallery, poetry readings, a full bar, a full service restaurant, poolhall, the best jukebox in Denver, free wireless, and a venue for many events. Definitely a must-visit and must-hangout place to go in Denver's downtown. Conveniently located and home to a friendly and great staff, you won't be disappointed with this great place. The Church - Denver
The Church : Seven Candles: The Church

Located in a artsy art-deco cathedral, this multi-roomed/ multi-bar club has an ambience worth dying for. With a delicious sushi bar in one of the back rooms, this bar has it all. I originally visited the venue during the Colorado Dark Arts Festival and had an incredible time at their establishment. From 2007-2009 on Sunday nights they had a Goth night in the basement and hiphop or techno up above. Both rooms downstairs were goth/industrial/ebm. At that time the place was often crowded, with yet enough room to still find a space to dance. As of 2009-2010, the Goth night has been moved up into the cathedral room with all three bars open, and the Sushi bar flowing with great sushi and Japanese treats. The music is great and there is plenty of room for dancing on the dance floor without rubbing elbows. Extroadinarily improved ambiance for the night. They did away with the hip hop / techno night above and now is only a Sunday Goth club. Much better improvement and major Kudos to the management. Great staff and incredible DJ's. It's a good Sunday night escape. Rating: 5 stars out of 5.

The Shelter - Denver
The Shelter: The Shelter

Enter into a very classy and ambient bar with a very friendly staff and drinks of the potency I miss from L.A. and Seattle days. Four rooms, 3 floors ... two floors open for this event - The Shelter has an incredible venue space for concerts, dancing, and entertainment. I'm looking forward to exploring this nightclub some future weekend ... as my first visit was with the 2006 Colorado Dark Arts Festival where I was mesmerized by such incredible acts like "Zombie Girl", "The Siren Project", and a plethera of performance art and dance. I was impressed by my first visit .... 5 stars out of 5.

Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom: Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom

Cervantes Masterpiece Theater/Ballroom
2637 Welton Street, Denver, CO 80205 * 303.297.1772 *
http://www.cervantesmasterpiece.com/

Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom is a spectacular little concert hall in the heart of historic Five points in downtown Denver. A two-floor venue with a main dance/concert floor, stage, tables, and booths; upstairs being a wrap-around balcony with tables, chairs, and comfy couches. The Ballroom is located in the old historic Casino Cabaret that dates back to the Cotton Club days of the 1930's when jazz greats such as Duke Ellington, Count Bassie, and Benny Goodman toured and played. Through the years greats such as Ike and Tina Turner, BB King, Jimmy Smith, and many others performed. With space to hold over 700 patrons, with great space, easy flow access to the bar and bathroom, and a well ventilated, non-smoking space. Incredible murals of various artistic styles speckle the walls. Incredible sound systems, and lighting, and hanging from the ceiling is claimed to be the nation's largest disco ball measuring approximately 5 feet in diameter. The staff and bar are friendly and courteous, and the drinks good and well priced. Every concert I've attended here has always been a fabulous experience. Thank you Cervantes! The Shelter and Milk - Denver
The Shelter and Milk: The Shelter and Milk

The Shelter and MILK Night Club * Wednesdays/Saturdays * 1037 Broadway * Denver, CO 80203 * (303) 534-0222 *21+ * www.myspace.com/sheltersat

Every Saturday @ The Milkbar is one of Denver's most infamous Goth clubs - Shelter/Milk. DJ MFR (Mike Rich) spins retro 80's in the milk bar while DJ's Fleisch and Ivo spin Dark Alternative, Ebm, Electroclash, and Industrial in the Jazz Bar. Both rooms, downstairs of Bar Standard. Strong and great drink specials with $2 wells until 11:00pm. It's free cover till 10:00 pm, and only $5 after. Has an outdoor smoking patio. Downstairs is a basement decor with exposed brick walls, vaulted ceilings, wood and tile floors with steel surfaces throughout the house. They have a state-of-the-art sound system that often projecs house/electronica/hip-hop upstairs, with rock and goth downstairs. Occasionally the upper smoking patio has DJ'ing too. Also has a roof-top patio (not often open) upstairs with great views of the Denver skyline. Goth Saturdays and Wednesdays are fabulous with some of the best music being spun in Colorado. Sugar House Lounge: Fetish night at Sugar House

Housed in the infamous Sugar House, which normally has two floors, two bars, 5 party suites, lots of beds, and lots of sexy to go around ... 8,000 sq feet of unique VIP ambiance without price and attitude. It's Denver's only venue with exclusive hotel-like party suites. Plus they serve Lucid Absinthe! (as well as a plethera of great drinks) The venue is to die for ... and the Venue is rated 5 stars by us.<BR>The fetish night I attended on Sept 12th (2008) was intriguing, fun, and adventurous, but lacking in a bit of what I'm used to for Fetish nights - the advertised body painting was lacking, not much play as you find in other Gothy Fetish nights, and while the racks and crosses were comparable and in some regards better than other Fetish nights, the dance floor for the event was tiny and Wasn't as active as one would expect for a Fetish Night. The Human buffet table was fun and cute, and lots of eye candy around. Certainly had a blast and will be back. The night definitely has promise! Fetish night Rating: 4 stars out of 5.

Three Kings Tavern: Punk/Rock/Metal with lively charm

A place of history - originally the "Zu Denver", then "60 South", "South Park Tavern", then the "Cherry Pit", and now "The Three Kings". Owned by Jim Norris, Jeff Campbell, and Martin Kilorin, presenting a new tavern with a "punk/rock/metal" bent that is to die for. Great staff, cool ambience, and affordable drinks. Its a great place to chill and to socialize. I visited for the first time during the aftermath of Denver's 2006 blizzard that made parking impossible in this area. But that didn't stop Kitty and Michelle from having a '*** Xmas' bash, serving us up some great drinks during their guest bartending event. Good times. Rating: 4 stars out of 5. visited 12/25/2006.

The Voodoo Dolls - Denver

The Voodoo Dolls

Bender's: Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dolls Tour

Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dolls
"http://www.bigjohnbates.com/"
~ Take Your Medicine Tour ~ (Wolverine Records, Germany)
Bender's Tavern, 314 E 13th, Denver, Colorado 303.861.7070
Special Event: Friday, 12/8/06
Direct from Vancouver, British Columbia ... my friends Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dolls, held a spectacular performance at Bender's in Denver this last friday. It appears that Denver might be annually on their circuit, and if so, I'll be in my bliss. It's really tough to explain this band in words - fantastic Rock-a-billy, Psycho-billy, dark rock n' roll, with a twist of sounds like "The Stray Cats" and "White Stripes" with a sense of rhythm you can really dance to. Accompanied by the beautiful troupe of Voodoo dolls, who every other song do a burlesque performance or skit - from fire spinning to role playing nurses giving audience members "their medicine". This tour is one of their most scintillating ever ... and celebration is in the air as they preach their new CD.

In addition in 2006 to be pleased that their music and performance was headlined in Vancouver's International Burlesque Festival & the Voodoo Ball; played on season 3, episode 1 of Battlestar Galactica; and 2005 started by receiving first Canadian Jagermeister band endorsement. Big John as the singer, guitarist, and lead; sCaroline spanking the bass with outrageous twists, turns, and moves in her playing; in addition, adding in spectacular bellydancing performances; and the new addition JT Massacre on the drums. Little Miss Risk and the new arrival Ruby Roulette will melt your soul .... in dance, trance, and enchantment. If BJB and the Voodoo Dolls come to your town, it would be a big mistake to miss them ... so step right up and "Take your Medicine" at a bar near you. Tour dates can be found at their web site. Highly recommended! Rating: 5+ stars out of 5.

Double Daughter Salotto - Denver
Double Daughter Salotto: Double Daughter Salotto

A artistically enchanting elegant bar with a friendly staff. Plush seating and rich decor. I visited the Salotto for the first time after our Zombie Crawl. I'll definitely be back. Had no idea this little entity existed and I'm doubly impressed. Great drinks, good prices. Good pizza too. Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5. Visited 10/21/06.
