Nightlife Spot: Bourbon Street at Rumbay

We ventured into the infamous "club of all clubs" and "Hottest dance club in town", or so many of the locals state. Eight clubs in one, this fantastic mix of rooms suites most attendees desires, though Liz was disappointed there was no C&W for her. There's the Red Martini, Rumbay, Fat City, the Patio, Masquerade, Copycats, Wildcats, and Sam's Smallest Bar. I'm not sure what the name is of every bar we ventured into - but it was really cool. $5 and you're in Bourbon Street and venturing in and out of each room with different flavors and people. Liz was in the mood for Jazz and Blues since there was no C&W, but was disappointed nothing was going on in the Jazz lounge - only some guy snoozin' on the couch and a few people lingering around the bars. We hung out for awhile in the large hiphop room (Wildcats?) which was rockin' (even though I hate hiphop) and the central floor had a balcony area with large-backed chairs with waterfalls circling the room. We sunk our feet into the sand floor of the beach room, which had net-hammock hairs with drink holders, and a hula-hooping cute girl on the bar who was the bartender as well as entertainment. Good music in that room. Then we spent most of the night in "Masquerade" where they were playing Disco and Eighties ... Wishing they had more alternative 80's, but I was satisfied with the room. Nightlife Spot: Jack Quinn's Irish Pub

We ventured over to check out the local Irish bar, no cover, and crowded to the brim. Caught the last act of Brian Clancy (pub sing-a-long), which was really good. Had my Irish Whiskey and Coke and absorbed the fun atmosphere. I definitely will be coming back to this cool bar. Looks like a divine food menu too. Worthy of further investigation. Nightlife Spot: Club Eden

Entering into the artsy and acclaimed "hottest club in town" - a very fancy, very colorful, and very enlightening night club (and apparently a restaurant too) designed for the elite and the chic ... Professional dancers on the tables, lots of bars, lots of bouncers - a velvet artsy-deco main room, with a neon-white bar room with glowing walls and floors (like something out of the white room in the movie the Matrix), a crowded patio, and Se7en, their large dance floor room ... guest star Brianna Banks hosting activities, a flowing fountain with free coconut-blended mysterious drink, free jello shots, free liquor tasting, I spent a mere $10 on cover and $4 for a tall whiskey and coke. Lots of eye-candy. Guys rest room had a woman in it handing out dry towels. That was a new one. The crowd smelled of money, a mix between the rich computer geek and the ski slope jock, some older big-whigs obviously bleeding money, I enjoyed the club and environment ... just a bit different than what I'm used to in the club scene ... I'm sure I'll be back .... For those of you that watch "Smallville" - it would be the type of club that "Lex Luthor" would run (best analogy I could come up with since I've been watching Smallville all week.) Nightlife Spot: Icon Night Club

Enter the world of Hip Hop. Me and a date ventured out to the acclaimed "2nd Annual Fantasy, Flesh, and Fetish Ball" that they were advertising everywhere. I have pretty high standards when it comes to these kind of balls, especially being molded by the famed "Sin City" of Vancouver, B.C. The night was a disappointment when it comes to fetish. It was a disappointment in terms of music. The club was very nice, good staff, good specials. Free drinks till midnight, you couldn't beat that. $10 cover, even beats most other fetish night covers. The place was jammed packed with hundreds in attendance, and quite a lineup to get in. But they didn't care what people wore to get in. No strict dress code. There were lots of hipsters in their jeans and t-shirts and baseball caps. I think for a "Fetish night" - strict dress should be enforced. Any holders of such a night without such, ruins the very concept of the night.
Hell, they could have simply enforced "costume" and it would have been better. There was nothing fetish about the night, except perhaps a few individual costumes involving pvc or leather. Fantasy was covered with a good array of costumes - but hey, it's Halloween. Anything sexual as is a usual feature to "Fetish and Sex Nights"? Nope. It was a hyped up Halloween Costume Party blaring Hip Hop. Not impressed. Rated 2 1/2 stars out of 5. Visited 10/29/2005.

Nightlife Spot: The Underground

Apparently one of Colorado Springs only Goth Nights ... this 3-4 room venue with catwalks, and a couple of bars, pool tables, and dance floor - was quite a welcoming space to a decently crowded Goth scene that is comparable to that of Sanctuary in Vancouver, B.C. $5 cover, good drink specials, and strong drinks ... Excellent DJ and a good time with dancing. Fetish shows, BDSM play, candle dripping, and a little too much smoke. Incredibly good music. I certainly had a good time. Rating: 4 1/2 stars out of 5. Visited 10/30/05.

Nightlife Spot: Rendezvous Martini Bar

A high priced, but artistically aesthetic, metropolitan, martini bar located downtown Colorado Springs, on Tejon. Good service, and good martinis. However they are a bit over-priced for my tastes - $9 martinis. But if you've got money to blow, this is the place to go. Rating : 3 stars out of 5.

Nightlife Spot: The Underground

The Underground, corner of Nevada and Kiowa, Colorado Springs, CO

Colorado Spring's currently ONLY Goth/Industrial/Dark Wave night is hosted every monday night from 10 pm - 2 am at the Underground on the corner of Kiowa and Nevada. DJ Omega delivers a great set list and the dance floor is a very enjoyable space - not too crowded and with a good ambiance. The rest of the club has lost the darker ambience it had under former ownership as the clientele nights have changed. The night is new but growing and shows incredible promise. I've enjoyed myself each time I've gone. Rated: 3 stars out of 5.

This night has been discontinued until further notice. The only Goth night in the Springs is on Sunday nights called "Disco for the Damned" (update 8/7/07)

Alternative progressive art rock. Based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado; This self proclaimed "post toolian progressive art rock band" are an up and coming talent and sound. Still at the grassroots level, and inspired by otherworldly craziness, the band is starting to creep out of the darkness into the light of the human world, mesmerizing the spirit with their unique enchanting sound. Visiting their May 2006 show at the "Dead Ant Tavern" in Colorado Springs - I was impressed with what I saw and hearn and can see a future being woven for this band in the near future. They have a good outlook and a promising future. While I was simply attracted to their show by the appearance of the mystical and rare image of the Elven Star, I was awarded with a nice evening of good vibes. Rating: 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

Nightlife Spot: McCabe's

A quaint little Irish Pub on Tejon, in historic downtown Colorado Springs ... they have a hospitable staff and lively patrons. Good drink specials for happy hour, and very good Irish / American food fare. A great spot for hanging with co-workers after work. Will return .... Had the Shepherd's Pie and way too many whiskey n' cokes. A good evening was had by all. Rating: 3 stars out of 5
