"Killing time in Dilling" Dilling by maykal

Dilling Travel Guide: 10 reviews and 9 photos

Halfway between ElObeid and Kadugli is the small town of Dilling (pronounced Ad-dillinge), and from the bus it looks quite pretty...green trees, rocky outcrops, wide streets, forests, rivers....So on our way back from Kadugli, we decided to save our aching bottoms and break the journey here. Not one of our best ideas really, as the whole town was mud-filled after the afternoon's rain. The only hotel was a male only dormitory at the bus station, and the town's prettiness had long since disappeared. Added to that, the security police were not really sure what to do with us. "What are you doing here?" they asked us...quite, what were we doing there?!

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Nice scenery nearby, good place to break the journey
  • Cons:nothing to do, no sights to see, no suitable accommodation for women
  • In a nutshell:If you can't stand long bus journeys, then Dilling will come in handy, but if not, don't bother.

I learned very early on to always have my marriage certificate with me. Even though it's in English, it was always accepted! Even if held upside down!
