    • Apparently you can camp out near the pyramids in the middle of the desert. I would imagine this is an amazing experience, although there is talk of snakes and scorpions. Friends of mine have also stayed with the gatekeeper and his family...he was very keen for us to stay, but we had to get back to Khartoum that evening so couldn't accept his offer...served us right, as we ended up stranded in Shendi that evening!

     Maykal, was it the Italians who did the reconstructions? I always was lead to believe it was one of the German archaeologists whose name began with an H.[ Hinkel or Hintze]
