I wanted to go to Ethiopia for a very long time. I always heard that it is a most unusual and non-touristy place to visit. It is one of the oldest Christian cultures in the world, it has wonderful, beautifully decorated churches. The people are very friendly and helpful and generally it is very cheap for travel, accomodation and food. The only negative thing about Ethiopia is the roads, they are terrible, sometimes it is better to drive next to the road then on the road.

We toured Ethiopia with Encounter, in a group of 9 people travelling by truck. Although we wouldn't normally go in for organised tours we decided it was the best way to see as much of the country as possible in the time we had.
