<p>I had to put this page under Wellington because there is no Hastings or Napier. In June, I was here for 10 days. The area is called Hawkes Bay. It is in the North Island on the east coast. It is about 6 hours south drive of Auckland and 4 hours north of Wellington. Hawkes Bay is famous for the orchards, wineries and the wonderful beaches. In 1931, there was a big earthquake. About 250 people died. Because it was the beginning of the depression, no one was really building new. Because of Napier and Hastings having a lot of buildings damaged or destroyed, they had to rebuild and did so in the Art Deco style. So lots of tourist go to Hawkes Bay to see the Art Deco buildings. And they also have special tours.</p>
<p>The photo was taken in Hastings, it is dedicated to the sheep. New Zealand has about 50 million of them, with the population of New Zealand being 3.8 million.</p>
