I was a total of about a week in Moscow. I have learnt so much about the Russian society. While I was there I also joined a VT meeting. That was great to meet other members from Russia and from abroad. I want to say a special thank you to Anya_D as she met us at the airport and she showed us around Moscow and beyond. It was great to have her to help us get around. I have both positive and negative experiences in Moscow. I will try to express my impressions. I hope that I don't offend anyone. If anyone has comments or suggestions I would welcome hearing from them. The photo is of the Cathedral of Christ the Redeemer. The original cathedral was blown up on Stalin's order in 1931. They began building the new Cathedral in 1994. It cost US$200M. It is an amazing cathedral, I would recommend to anyone visiting to have look inside at the frescoes, and floors made from semi-precious stone. I was lucky enough to be there for a service with the head of the Russian Orthodox church. It was a great experience even if I don't understand Russian. |
