Brussels, having grown from a 6th century marshy village on the bank of the River Senne (filled in long ago for sanitary reason), the city is not only the headquarters of the EU and NATO, and the home to the Europe's most impressive central square. Nowadays, it's an unpretentious mix of grand medieval buildings and modern skyscrapers.
Brussels do make sense for me, because she is my first touring city of European continent. Grand Place is the heart of the city and is where I think Europe's most impressive market square till now.
