Stay in Byron Bay for a while if you can. There's lots going on although manages to have a laid back relaxed vibe. I stayed there for just over a week and definitely could have stayed longer.

Go on a Nimbin day trip from Byron Bay. Jim's alternative tour was a good one although there are lots of other companies doing trips there. There were alot of stop offs on the way - swimming in a lake, macademia nuts, a drive through the rainforest, waterfall and ending with a stop at the Byron Bay lighthouse for sunset. Don't make the mistake I made of over-indulging on cake- it meant that the stop offs towards the end of the days were a slight effort!!

This is a photo of the view at Raspberry Point (between Sydney and Byron Bay). This was one of the many stop-offs on the Oz bus. Don't use this bus company if you are someone who likes to sleep while travelling - there's never more than an hour between stops or commentary. Watch out for redback spiders in the toilet here!

Nundle sheepfarm was the first stop-off on the oz experience from Sydney. A good night - the sheep shearing etc itself was ok, but the best bit is the party afterwards. My memory of it is a bit hazy but a good time was had by all I think. The worst moment is waking up in a huge dorm the next morning and facing all the people who you have to spend another week with!! If you like it there you can extend your stay and work on the farm in exchange for free board.

See the bridge and the Opera House etc. I didn't get around to climbing the bridge - a combination of limited funds and time as well as terrible weather on arrival.
