The beach looks lovely and makes for some great photos. Unfortunately the sea looks pretty dirty and also I didn't want to risk getting stung by jellyfish. It's the only holiday I've been on where I haven't swum in the sea - it really isn't very appealing. I'd say make sure that your hotel has a good pool that you can use, otherwise spend some time on Langkawi where the water is clearer. I really enjoyed Penang but felt a bit cheated by the beaches seeing as it's sold as being a paradise beach location :o(

Be prepared to sweat profusely and take a walk around the botannical gardens. watch out for monkeys and over-sized black lizards crossing your path and take a look at the impressive plants and trees. Take a cold drink with you- I nearly died there!!
