Lijiang has two parts, the old town and the new town. The traditional buildings in Lijiang, called Nan Xi House, are as shown in the pics, grey roof, with a small square open "tian jin" full of flowers and plantations.

The old town of Lijiang is featured by bridges, streams flowing all around the town, and cute wooden houses. Lingering around the city, you will be accompanied by the charming sound of stream. Walking along the stone steps to the high point of the town, you'll see the roofs...

In Lijiang, you can choose a quiet bench, a bridge or steps beside the stream and to talk, to chat or just to sit there thinking about nothing. There are also plenty of shops selling souvnir. Girls can spend several days just doing shopping.

Around Lijiang, there are several must go places. Yulong snow mountain and Baisha or Shu He village from which Lijiang starts. Going a little bit farther, you can spend two days in Lugu Lake and two days hiking at Tiger Leaping Gorge.

If you go to Lijiang by bus, you have to walk a little bit from the bus station to the old town.

People will tell you go straight forward till you see the big water wheel, which is the one shown in the pics.

Notice their typical local costume? Old people are playing cards in the afternoon. This area is really old and local, where you can find a lot of houses without renovating, and a lot of local snacks as well.
