If you wait for a caravan passing by, Douz is the ideal spot. It is "the gate to the desert" represented by a huge key at the town entrance. Douz seems to be a sleepy town, which awakens at the thursday market, with real bedouin life. The dunes at the fringe of the palmeraie make great impressions, and represents one of the few easy chances of seeing Sahara the way you imagined it. |

Douz was one of my fave sport in Tunisia, nice to read about it again. | JLBG Thu Oct 28, 2004 05:19 UTC The yellowish color of the sky on some of your pictures show that you had the end (or the beginning ?) of a sand wind ! Quite often in Douz ! | Sandi-2004 Mon Sep 27, 2004 09:38 UTC Fascinating!! What are the roses of the desert made of? |
