Wide white desert

If you wait for a caravan passing by, Douz is the ideal spot. It is "the gate to the desert" represented by a huge key at the town entrance. Douz seems to be a sleepy town, which awakens at the thursday market, with real bedouin life.
The dunes at the fringe of the palmeraie make great impressions, and represents one of the few easy chances of seeing Sahara the way you imagined it.

Lovely photos from Douz, that looks like a nice place you stayed in, near the Dune. Douz was one of my fave sport in Tunisia, nice to read about it again.

The yellowish color of the sky on some of your pictures show that you had the end (or the beginning ?) of a sand wind ! Quite often in Douz !

Camel ride at sunset or sunrise is a must there hehe! Although some camels (younger ones) are crazy = you may catch desert sea sickness :-)
