I'm living on the border between the flemish and the french community and at about 20 km SE of Brussels. A very nice forest (For?t de Soignes) is the buffer between the capital, the suburbs and my village (4.444 ha and 24.000 inhabitants).
I love sunshine, nature and long walks in the country, gardening and growing flowers. An other passion is discovering new places and their people.
So, if you like to, have a look at my different travelogues.
Thanks for coming by.
If you need more information about some of the destinations, you are welcome to drop me a line in english, french, dutch or german.

November 2005.
And then there was Libya.
It were the many pictures of the awesome historic and World Heritage sites Lepcis Magna and Sabratha, I saw in a documentary, that decided me to visit Libya. Maybe also because, for a long time, there has always been so much mystery about this country...
January 2005.
Another country which was since ages on the top of my to-do list : the South of India.
Available pages until now are
Hassan
Belur
Halebid
Ooty (Udagamandalam)
Mysore
Somnathpur
Mamallapuram
Kochi (Cochin) and Kerala's Backwaters
Thekkady and Periyar Lake
Madurai
Tanjore (Thanjavur).
I'm working on Tiruchirappalli, Kanchipuram, Pondicherry and Chennai.
This page will be under construction for a while. So many pictures to sort out.....
October 2003.
As every year, when Autumn comes up with its grey and misty skys and temperature slowly reaches 0? C, an irresistable desire of warmth and sun, draws me towards exotic places. This time I heard the mystic Bali and its neighbour Lombok calling me.
June 2003.
Back from a summer holiday in Morzine, Haute Savoie in the French Alps, trying, if needed, to find out which season I prefer : winter or summer.
The setting was beautifully coloured under the bright shining sun and the dark blue sky, competely different as to the black and white winter landscapes. So what do you think ?
January 2003.
An earlier trip also went to Morzine in the French Alps. Since a broken leg some years ago, I stopped skiing and have chosen more exotic holiday destinations.
Friends convinced me to return to the snowy mountains to reconcile with snow, ice and freezing temperatures. The sun and the beautiful landscapes did the rest...
In november 2002 a sudden lack of sun made us end up in Tunisia. We stayed at the Djerba island in the Gulf of Gabes from where me made a tour through the desert, starting via the Roman road to Zarzis, Medinine, Toujane, Matmata, the beautiful desert of
Douz, Kebili, Chott El Jerid,Tozeur and its oasis, Chebika, Tamerza, Moular?s, Metlaoui, Gafsa, Gabes and ending at Ajim on the island again. A very nice desert tour
Januari 2002.
Thailand here we come !
Another of my dream destinations !
A dream which became reality. We made a stop at Bangkok visiting the wonderful Grand'Palace, China Town and the Klongs. From there it went to the floating market of Damnoen Saduak, the bridge over the river Kwai at Kantchanaburi, up north to Ayutthaya, Sukhotai, Phitsanuloke, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and the Golden triangle. Then south via Lampang and Bangkok to Ban Chang (Rayong) having some dolce farniente at the seaside.
And then there is Morocco. A fascinating country from north to south. From the surprisingly green olive trees and corn fields in the north to the beautiful deserts and ocre colours in the south. Marrakech, the red city, is inquestionately the pearl of the south. And last but not least the many souks with their mysterious
atmosphere.

4. Bourgogne - Auxerre (France) october 2004

I have a list of folks I know...
all written in a book,
And every now and then..
I go and take a look.
That is when I realize
these names... they are a part,
not of the book they're written in...
but taken from the heart.
For each Name stands for someone...
who has crossed my path sometime,
and in that meeting they have become...
the reason and the rhyme.
Although it sounds fantastic...
for me to make this claim,
I really am composed...
of each remembered name.
Although you're not aware...
of any special link,
just knowing you, has shaped my life...
more than you could think.
So please don't think my greeting...
as just a mere routine,
your name was not ever
forgotten in between.
For when I send a greeting...
that is addressed to you,
it is because you're on the list...
of folks I'm indebted to.
So whether I have known you...
for many days or few,
in some ways you have a part...
in shaping things I do.
I am but a total...
of many folks I've met,
you are a friend I would prefer...
never to forget.
Thank you for being my friend!

Sujet : ma pri?re
Dieu... b?nis mes parents et tous mes enfants.
B?nis aussi mon conjoint ainsi que mes amis...
Et prot?ge-les aussi.
Je veux te demander sans vouloir trop te d?ranger...
Eh bien, tu sais, mon ordinateur...,
veux-tu le b?nir aussi?
Je sais qu'il n'est pas banal de b?nir un bout de m?tal,
mais laisse-moi t'expliquer...
puisses-tu alors d?cider.
Maya

Bonjour Gini, an early wishes for A Merry X'mas and A Happy New Year. x<<<<<<--XD
Baa...Baa...Baa....from AsiaBarney.
Enjoyed reading your writeup on South India. Will be on a trip to Europe, to cover Amsterdam, Paris, and Madrid. Do you think a stopover at Belgium is worth it?
Ik ben véél te laat (was op vakantie) maar wens je alsnog een heel gelukkige verjaardag.
Happy Birthday! I loved your intro photo. I wish I were there now. All the best!
1 jaartje bij is niet zo erg maar het leven gaat zo vlug. Gisteren zijn we voor de 1x opa en oma geworden van een tweeling. Mooie schatjes van meisjes.
Hope you had a lovely birthday. Cheers from down under.
