Sydney

I have been studying in Sydney for almost a year now and enjoyed every second of it!

Even tough it's been winter the weather's been nice, around 15-22 degrees and with blue sky and sun almost every day (which is quite a difference from the Swedish winters I am used to).

Spring and Autumn are the best times of year, I think, as it can become a bit too hot in summer.

In August we saw whales in the harbour! It was such a great experience! We took a water taxi out and we got quite close. Apperently they usually swim by the coast outside Sydney and this year they came in to the harbour!

To see

The usual attractions is the Harbour Bridge and of course the Opera House, but there is much more to see. I'd recommend going up the Sydney Tower as one of the first things as you get a great view of the city and don't feel as lost when walking the streets.

I'd also recommend going to either the Koala Park or Taronga Zoo. Even though the koalas and kangaroos arn't wild, it's nice to see them. Take the Ferry from Circular Quay over to Taronga, the Zoo has a great view over the city.

The beaches

The beaches are lovely. Bondi Beach (also see my Bondi page!)is only 30 minutes from the city centre and is therefore packed in summer, but there is also Coogee beach and if you have a few hours walking from Bondi to Coogee is nice. Manly on the northern side is also a nice popular beach, but I think the ferry trip there is better than the beach it self!
Another walk which is nice to do if you have got some more time is from Bondi up to Watsons bay and Sydney National Park.
