So on Day 3 of our Kenya - Uganda trip we did ride via Eldoret towards the Uganda border with our big overland truck. We crossed the border at Busia.

Once we had filled in the necessary forma on both side of the border we could continue our trip. It was a very long trip, like this we arrived in Sipi in the dark.

Sipi is located on the flanks of Mount Elgon. Mount Elgon is located on the Kenya - Uganda border, the highest point, the Wagagai (4321 m) is on the Uganda side. Mount Elgon is the most important source of water for the people in this area.

With all this water coming down from this mountain, there are several falls. Sipi Falls is one of the most beautiful ones.

As we arrived in the dark, we had t build up our tents in the dark 9 a new experience).

The next morning (Day 4) we did a hike to the Falls. The hike started from the campground and already after 100 metres of main road, we took a steep path in between the rocks, then we continued via a small path in between the banana trees, we did see several small African villages. To the first fall it was about 1h15 of walking (mostly downhill).

The most sportive ones in the group continued towards the second and the third falls. I did return to the campground, we had to do that the same way as before, so mostly up hill, which was much tougher then in the first part. So after 2,5 h we arrived back at the campground.

A cool beer at the terrace of the campground bar tasted delicious, and from this terrace we had a splendid view over the falls (see picture).

The rest of the day, we had plenty of time to relax, to read a book, to drink some beers and some of our group did visit a local project organised by some local ladies, were they had to taste the local food and local beer.

It was really very beautiful and relaxing to visit Sipi Falls

Brilliant photos! That trip to Uganda must have been great... Might go there this autumn aswell.
