Freizeitland Geiselwind is one of the best-known recreation-parks in Germany or at least in Bavaria. You may see it from the highway A3 and it might be a good idea to make a stop-over there, because that recreation-park offers great events and fun for the whole family. There is an area, where you may see Flamingos, apes, storchs, parrots, owls etc. There will be merry-go-rounds for the smaller children and roller-coasters for the others. A whole day might not be enough to enjoy all of the attractions there. The park is open mainly in summer : end of March till the end of october: 09.00a.m.-05.00p.m. May till August even till 06.00p.m. You may get in untill 1 hour before closing-time ! Go to Geiselwind when you have your birthday: NO entrance-fee for you visitors under 1,10 m are free visitors taller than 1,10 m pay 16 Euro taller than 1,40 m pay 19 Euros

Things To Do: the village of Geiselwind

The village of Geiselwind looks really great with a lot of half-timbered houses, it is close to the highway, but still in quite a distance, so you will not hear any of its noises there. Take a walk through the village, plenty of these houses are quite old and perfectely restored. You will find 2 petrol-stations there, a super-market and various cheap hotels. Prices are low and so it might make sense to do your shopping there instead of the expensive petrol-stations along the highway.

Things To Do: a wide area for festivities & Grill-Parties

There is a giant private area behind the Erlebnis-Rasthof Strohofer in Geiselwind. It is part of the hotel and this is where they are holding trucker-festivals and meetings, where they have rock-concerts and other gatherings. See their web-page for the next festivities. That area may also be used for camping by motorhomes, you might even up up your tent - BUT better ask for a permission at the desk of the hotel !! There is also a place to set up your char-coal-grill, several tables and benches and even a small slide of children, see my pictures !

Things To Do: Autobahn-Kirche Geiselwind

Autobahn-Kirche Geiselwind is next to Erlebnis-Rasthof Strohofer and it is ment for a stop-over or for marriages and other festivities. The church is quite modern, not really my idea of a romatic place for a marriage, but tastes are different and it might make sense to have such a church for one or the other occasion. The church is open daily and includes a book-shop

eledhwen Wed Nov 1, 2006 09:37 UTC Very nice place again and Rothenburg seems to be the right combination for me. | nepalgoods Wed Oct 4, 2006 08:40 UTC What a cute little place! Very nice page! | matcrazy1 Sun Oct 1, 2006 05:56 UTC Very beautiful half-timbered houses and I'd love this 24-hour service station, I needed it once a lot haha. | deecat Sat Sep 23, 2006 21:46 UTC Another topnotch presentation. Love the details and extra photos with architectural elements. Narrative is helpful, informative, and fun to read. The photographs (even with the grey looking skies) are excellent. |
