Favorite Thing: Allihies is a small village on the north road leading from Kenmare to Dursey Island and it might be a great place tospend the night in a B&B, because many of these colorful houses have a few rooms to let for tourists. Recently I even saw a large bus from Netherlands there, so this is not anymore a "secret" tip .
Fondest Memory: this village has the best collection of great colorful houses, I remember, and I also saw many of these beautiful houses already as a background in german movies on TV

Favorite Thing: Cobh harbour, in the south of the town might be interesting for you, as it served as the main-port for people immigrating to the USA in the 19th and 20th century
Fondest Memory: The town Cork is great for shopping, but I mostly go into the landscapes and did not spend a lot of time in big cities.
