What can you do, when everybody else advertises a great view on the river, while your own B&B is in the back of the village and none of the windows is facing the river ?? :-((
Take a funny name for your B&B, and call it :
"Kein Moselblick" and guarantee, that your guests will NOT be able to see the river Mosel from their room.

Unique Qualities: The B&B is in one of the tiny streets of Beilstein and it has 3stars. You will actually rent the whole house with 3 bedrooms and a total of 8 beds, 2 diningrooms, 1 livingroom,a fully equipped kitchen, private facilities, a sunny Terrace and even an old wine-cellar, where you may sit and taste the local wine...
The price is 57 Euros for 2 Persons togeather
and each additional person is 5 Euros extra.
Minimum-stay is 3 nights and the final cleaning is 23 Euros
( guests with a dog pay 28 Euros)

Hotel Alte Thorschenke is a romatic hotel close to the Mosel-bridge and in the very centre of Cochem.This great hotel is not a really cheap place, but very romantic and built next to a medieval tower, that you may see, when you click on my picture.

Unique Qualities: The hotel Alte Thorschenke dates back to the year 1332 and is one of the oldest inns in Germany.The hotel is in the very centre of town with lots of shops just around the corner, but it is also in a quite noisy area with plenty of car-trafic nearby.

Hotel am Rosenh�gel is a great 4-star-hotel on the tranquil right bank of the river Mosel / Moselle & with the very best view on the castle of Cochem.
In general the right bank of the river Mosel - opposite of the castle - is a lot more quiet than the busy left bank of the river with all the main car-trafic taking the Mosel-boulevard and the trainstation at the east-end of the village.

Unique Qualities: Besides the more quiet loaction you also have a perfect view of the village and the castle of Cochem. Walking to the other bank of the river takes just about 10 minutes. For more infos and pics about this hotel you may click on my link below !!

Hotel Baeren in Bernkastel

Hotel Baeren in Bernkastel is my favorite place to stay in the Mosel-valley. The hotel consists now of 3 buildings :
1)The main building in the street leading to Trier (the one you may see on my picture) and there all of the guests will also have their excellent breakfast-buffet. The main-building is the only one with an elevator, but you have to climb up 7 steps anyway in order to get into the house.

2)The Bistro - with several rooms facing the river Mosel, 6 of them with their own balcony facing the river.
The Bistro is also a great restaurant with a lovely terrace towards the river.

3)Das Nebenhaus - another building next to the Bistro and lots of rooms with balconies facing the river.

Unique Qualities: My mother had a single-room with a great balcony facing the river.
On that balcony is a table with 4 chairs and it was great fun sitting there and watching the ships passing by.

High above the city of Bernkastel-Kues there is a Youth hostel , close to the castle Landshut and you may eighter drive up there with your car or take a walk through the vinyards of maybe 20 minutes from the town-centre.

Unique Qualities: The Jugendherberge / Youthhostel has a large park around the hostel and have an excellent view on the castle and the Mosel-valley from there. Coming home after lots of glasses of the local wine might be a problem though, as you have to step up the small path through the vinyards, or take a taxi !

Hotel am Technik-Museum Speyer

There is a great 4star-hotel just a few steps from the Technik-museum with a big car-park.
105 modern rooms built into former army-barracks. My mother had a single-room with sattellite-TV, private facilities and breakfast for 50 Euros a night.I stayed at the camping-site behind the hotel. - see my next tip !!

Unique Qualities: About half of the rooms are easily accessible also for wheelchairs, BUT when you go for breakfast to the main building, there are 3 single steps, without a seperate ramp for wheelchairs !!
Breakfast-buffet was great as well !

Camping am Technik Museum Speyer

Behind the Hotel am Technik Museum in Speyer is a large campingsite and you have to simply register at the Hotel-reception.
Then they will open the big Iron-gate for you, a fact, that might make you feel a lot safer than on other camping-sites, where everybody may walk and drive there easily without control..

Unique Qualities: The price to stay for 1 night is 19,50 Euros for the whole car and all persons inside, and what might be great for a big family, was not really very good for me, beeing alone in my car.
Unfortunately wild camping for a motorhome on any of the many parkings in Speyer was strictly forbidden :-(((

Hotel Anker in Remagen

We stayed in Hotel Anker in Remagen maybe 5 years ago and the very best about this hotel was the perfect view that you have on the river Rhein / Rhine from the restaurant and most of the rooms. The rooms were quite simple and most of them did not have private facilities, but the prices were also cheaper than average !

Unique Qualities: The best about hotel Anker in Remagen is the view over the river Rhine that you have from your room, or during breakfast, as you actually sit on 1st floor (USA:2nd floor) .
There are lots of parking-lots just in front of the hotel, and NO NOISES OF TRAINS at all !!!

Hotel Burg Gutenfels in Kaub

It is a pity that this great and romantic Rhine-castle-hotel had been sold recently and will never be a hotel again . Take a look at their web-page : The first part looks promissing, BUT read also the very last line at the bottom :
Closed 2006 December 31 and sold to a private person !
The german version is much clearer :
Geschlossen zum 31. Dezember 2006 und an Privat verkauft.
Schlo�hotel wird nicht mehr er�ffnet
(Castle-hotel will NOT be opened again !!)

Unique Qualities: The unique qualities of this hotel had been the great position overlooking the river Rhine opposite of Pfalzgrafenstein, at one of the most scenic places of the river !
