This small park with great figures and wood-carvings is called "Poliana Skazok" - and it is situated some Km out of Yalta. |
| | I twice came to Yalta, while I was working onboard of M/S Vistafjord in 1978 and 1979.
Yalta was at that time part of the Soviet Union, but in a certain way communism was a bit different there, - not so very strict as in Leningrad - the houses reminded me a lot of the mediteranean and of course it was an area, where the big bosses of comunism had their datchas (summer-villas). |
| | This is the stamp of a postcard I sent home - it still has the CCCP - for the old Russian Federation and says Yalta - Kryimea |

lotharlerch Thu Apr 24, 2008 08:07 UTC I had the pleasure with beach resorts both in Soviet Union (1968 the Caucasian Black Sea coast) and Post Soviet Ukraine (1992 Yalta). In both cases not too much fruit and rather poor fish and wine. | om_212 Wed Jul 18, 2007 19:44 UTC interesting page on Yalta. as a matter of fact i was there as a kid about the same time :) and "Dolina Skazok" was my favorite place as well :) I wonder why did you compare it to Russia? or Russia was the synonim of USSR? | Kuznetsov_Sergey Sun Mar 11, 2007 21:49 UTC Thanks Michael for a feeling of nostalgia from far 1978-79! Cabins from the cable-rope on the Darsan hill are still the same. St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral looks now beautiful. I wish you to feel nostalgia on my new Yalta-page! | HORSCHECK Wed Jan 4, 2006 16:19 UTC Michael, I got home safely from snowy Vienna. Interesting page about Yalta As you know the Ukraine is high on my "Must-Visit" list. :o) |
