I came to Nizhny Novgorod in May 2008 in a cruise from Perm to Moscow

The young Lady on my photograph is Nelly, our chief-translator onboard of M/S Furmanov. She is a student from Rostov-na-Donu and absolutely perfect in German !

Romanoff-cathedral will be one of the highlights of your visit in Nizhny Novgorod

GReat page! Nishni NOwgorod was not open for foreign tourists, when I did the cruise from Kazan to Moscow in 1989. Danke für die Geburtstagswünsche. Ulrike

Love your emphasis on architecture, sculptures, and churches. An interesting and educational group of tips, which I enjoyed so much.

Hi Michael, great that you were able to take a cruise to this lovely place, and had such a good translator. That "Lady with the Mirror" is a clever and unusual statue. Also the mother and son and of course the postman with his bicycle.

I deserve a "Strafe" for not visiting N.Novgorod still, ha-ha! Though "off limits rule" didn't concern me all the times! Thank you for a look at this ancient Russian city from a point of view a foreigner - some thoughts looked very touching and amusing!

I've been to that Gorki museum too! Great page about the city center. I've actually walked to the big yellow church that you saw from afar. Didn't see the giant staircase as I was standing on top! Should make my own page one day...
