    The centre of Passau is beautifully lighted and in case that you pass by Passau on the highway or by train and think about a stop-over - see my picture, everything looks fine for a night-stroll.
    Most of the day-tourists are gone at 06.00p.m. and afterwards the city has a special charme.

    On my picture : The old townhall with the neogothic tower, Hotel Wilder Mann next to it on the right and you may also see a bit of the new townhall on the right of my picture.

    You cannot walk up to the castles at night and it would also be quite dangerous. Yet it is great to walk along the Danube and see both castles lighted in the distance. When you are lucky, a cruiseship will pass by and you will also see plenty of cargoships sailing up and down the river .

    In front of my picture you see Veste Unterhaus and above Veste Oberhaus, the former castle of the prince-bishop of Passau.

    Every thursday between may and october (except on holidays) there will special organ-concerts in the St.Stephen cathedral at 07.30 p.m.
    Tickets for these concerts are 5 Euros for grownups and 3 Euros for children and students.
    When you have a ticket, you may enter 40 minutes before the concert and search for a perfect seat.
    they say there no guarantee for a seat, but I am sure there will be enough seats in the cathedral.

    In addition there are daily concerts of half an hour at 12.00 noon for a fee of 3 Euros / 1 Euro for students.
    These concerts are daily between May 1st and October 31st. + Dec. 27th-31st.
