  • Hotel "Wilder Mann" (wild man) is in the very centre of Passau, next to the townhall and just a few meters from the quai ,where most of the ships will leave for the cruises to Vienna, Budapest and even the Black Sea.

Unique Qualities: Hotel Wilder Mann is the most traditional hotel in Passau and it's most famous guests were:
"mad" King Ludwig II of Bavaia and also
Empress Sissi, who stayed there in 1862 for 8 days, meeting her parents, duke Max and duchess Ludowika of Bavaria and her sister, Queen Marie of Bourbon-Neapel.

They have lots of great rooms, including the appartments that Sissi and Ludwig II had.

  • ROTEL-INN is an interesting new type of hotel :
All rooms are 4 meters long and 1,5 meters wide and have a bed 2m x 1,5m, that you have to enter from the feet-side.
The facilities are opposite of the rooms and the price per person is just 15,- Euros.
The hotel is ment mainly for bikers and families and the whole construction looks like a sleeping person - when you click on my picture, you may see the blue head of that person.

Unique Qualities: The Rotel-Inn is directely on the right bank of the Danube, with the famous cycling-path just in front of the house and just about 200 meters to the train-station of Passau.
In 2005 the hotel is open :
    April 29th - October 3rd, 2005
    15,- Euros per Person !!

  • Hotel Am Jesuitenschloessel is at the right bank of the river Inn, almost in the centre of Passau, you just have to get across Marienbrücke and will be within 5 minutes at the St.Stephens cathedral.

Unique Qualities: The hotel has 160 rooms, a lot of parkings, Tennis- Squash-, Badmington-facilities and even it's own 9-hole-golf-course.
The cycling-path along the Danube is just in front of the hotel.

On my picture : Passau, seen from the castle-park

  • The Hotel Residenz is one of the many hotels facing the Danube and the large row of ships docked there in order to sail don the Danube or upstream to Regensburg and towards the Rhine-Main-Danube-canal.

Unique Qualities: They have a nice terrace facing the river and have special offers like the one in 2005 :
3 nights room and breakfast, a cruise on the 3 rivers, a guided tour of the town and an organ-concert in St.Stephen for 141 Euros in the doubble and 167 Euros in the single room.

  • Inside one of the many buildings of Veste Oberhaus a modern youth-hostel was built, just opposite of the ticket-box of the castle.
It is the building with the red roof on my picture and obviously plenty of the rooms are under that roof.

Unique Qualities: When living in this hostel, you have to considder that it is high above the town and walking down to Passau might take about 20-30 minutes and I may not really recommend to walk these paths at night after having tasted a lot of Bavarian beers...

St.Stephan's is stunning! Don't you just love cities built at the intersection of 2 or 3 rivers? Beautiful countryside.
