One more picture of a great balcony that I saw close to the theatre of Cheb / Eger.
When you click on my picture, you may see the great sculptured ornaments around the windows and under the roof.

Spalicek & a lovely cafe

This is Spalizek / Stöckl from the backside, and you may see that it really consists of different merchant-houses, built in the 12th century .
One of them is a nice cafe with a garden - a great place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and maybe an "Egerlaender" ( a kind of pastry with a top of powidl-jam of plums and cheese-curd)

Friedrich Schiller & Eger / Cheb

Friedrich Schiller came quite often to Eger / Cheb in order to seach for material for his "Wallenstein-Trilogie".
Schiller is also "responsible" for the fact, that the Waldstejn-family became famous mainly by their german name of Wallenstein.

a lot more lovely buildings

All of the town-square is surrounded by these colorful buildings in all the colors of the rainbow.
The red building on the left is Grüener-house again, where Johann Wolfgang von Goethe often visited his friend and collegue Gruener.

Grüner-house

Grüner-house still shows the coat of arms of the family on top of the entrance-gate.
This building is close to Spalicek / Stoeckl and is used as the tourist-information today.

Erzherzog Johann and Ludwig

The Austrian Erzherzoege (princes) Johann and Ludwig were guests here in 1806.
Because of this special event the restaurant, formerly been named "U cerveneho konicka" (Red horse) was renamed and this lovely and quite impressive relief was added to the facade .

Zu den zween Erzherzogen

"Zu den zween Erzherzogen" is an old traditional inn opposite of the Roland's well, and on the left of my picture.

It is the oldest inn & hotel in Cheb and since 1531 plenty of celebrities were living there.

Baltasar Neumann was born in Cheb

Baltasar Neumann was one of the most famous baroque architects, and he was born in Cheb / Eger.

Opposite of the Franciscan cloister you may see the building, where he was born.

Great Villas

In Obmene brigady you may find a parking for your car and when walking to the city you will pass by great old buildings like this one close to the cloister of the Franciscans.

The theatre of Cheb

The theatre of Cheb / Eger reminds me a bit of the ones to be seen in smaller Austrian cities.
This theatre is not far from the town-square in a street called Obmene brigady
