    • Restaurant Name: The Cafe inside the Garden-Pavillon

    This self-service-cafe is maybe the cafe with the most precious frescos in Austria, BUT most of the tourists will miss it, when they visit Stift Melk.Quite often I had been in Melk on a sunny day with thousands of tourists in the monastery and still I was almost alone in that cafe.
    For this part of the monastery you have to pay an extra-fee of 2 Euros and could go there, even when you don't go into the museum.

    Favorite Dish: I had a coffee and a Sachertorte . The choice is limited to 2-4 cakes, simple coffee and packed sweets, BUT the main reason to go there is in order to see the lovely frescos !

    Cafe Central is my favorite place to have ice-cream. There is a real ice-cream parlor around the corner, but you will realize that only a few tourists will go there, while Cafe Central is always quite full and offers also a garden-restaurant with the view on the monastery.

    Favorite Dish: For Icecream I normally take Vanilla- and Blue-Berries (Heidelbeer), but they also have nice cakes and great coffee and ice-cups.

    Directions: Cafe Central is directely at the town-square, at the side in direction of the Danube. You will pass by it, when entering the town from the Danube.
