Restaurant Atelier: noble dining in great atmosphere

Restaurant Atelier is a really posh place to eat for people who would like to enjoy a special ambiente and are willing tom pay extra prices for extra quality and service.
Take a look at my 4th picture in order to have an idea about the prices in this fine restaurant. You may sit only inside the building, all of the garden is reserved for the other restaurant , that is a lot cheaper and less formal.

Favorite Dish:
"Dreierlei vom Radieschen" for 11 euros
(Radishes served in 3 different ways)
this is one of the dishes I always wanted to taste...

Gasthaus zu Schloss Hellbrunn: a great place & moderate prices

Gasthaus zu Schloss Hellbrunn is the place I may recommend for the ordinary people, for families with children and tourists on a budget. The management is the same, they even have almost the same web-page, but prices are a lot cheaper and the atmosphere is also a lot more relaxed than in the noble restaurant "Atelier" next door.

Favorite Dish: I mostly just had coffee and cake or some icecream and enjoyed it a lot !

THREESIXTY BAR: a bar hanging directely under the heaven

The THREESIXTY BAR in Hangar7
is certainly one of the most spectacular bars that you will find anywhere in the world, because it is hanging down from the ceiling of the large glass-construction-hall of Hangar7 and gives you at the same time a great view of the sky above and of the museum below the bar.
Threesixty bar is open daily from 06.30 p.m. as an aperetiv-bar and will close with the IKARUS-restaurant.
Every friday and saturday it will be open untill 03.00a.m., just like the Mayday-Bar.

Favorite Dish: To be honest, I did not try it out yet, it is also a bit out of my range of money, and you certainly would have to dress there formerly or at least "trendy" ...

Konditorei FÜRST: the home of the first Mozartkugel

Konditorei Fürst in the cfity of Salzburg is specialized for all sorts of chocolate-specialities and cakes and they also invented the original Mozartkugeln in 1890 and had won a gold medail at the world exhibition for them.
Unfortunatly they did not think of registering the name and so you will find various different "original Mozartkugeln" nowadays.

Favorite Dish: The original Mozartkugeln, made by Konditorei Fürst - they are packed in blue Try it and you will taste the difference against other mozartkugeln:
The chocolate-cover is much softer,( but might also make you sticky fingers )

Cafe Carpe Diem: in Hangar7, at the airport of Salzburg

Cafe Carpe Diem is the name of a very special type of cafe that you will find next to the entrance of the Red-bull museum Hangar7 next to the airport of the city of Salzburg. From that cafe you will have an excellent view on some of the most beautiful exhibits of the museum.
This is certainly not a cheap place, BUT they serve an excellent coffee and I had a double espresso and a fruit-cake, as you may see on my picture, and I payed a total of 7,20 Euros.
That is quite understandable, when you click on my picture and see that the coffee is served on a tray, covered not with a cheap paper-napkin, but made by cloth, and even the napkin is made of cloth...

Cafe Carpe Diem is open daily : 09-00a.m.-07.00p.m.

Favorite Dish: Take a look at these cakes, served in a glass : The bottom was covered by a cream of Mango and other exotic fruits, then there was a thin cake and on top they arranged cream with exotic fruits ...
...delicious !!!

THREESIXTY BAR is the most spectacular bar you may see and go to in Hangar-7. It is hanging down from the ceiling and gives a great view of the sky above and the muesum below the bar.

MAYDAY-Bar in Hangar-7: feel like in heaven :

MAYDAY-bar is at the balcony of the great restaurant IKARUS , where you will find this seperate cocktail-lounge and it includes some great chairs and even a piano (see my 2nd picture) , all of them facing the exhibits of the museum.
This is also the place, where you may start your walk to the house-bar suspended from the top of the ceiling of the whole construction.
This is certainly a great and quite unique place to have a party.

Mayday-Bar is open daily 05.30p.m. - 03.00 a.m.
NO dogs allowed there !

Favorite Dish: Mayday-Bar is offering you so-called "Modern Classic Food" , what-ever that means, I had no chance yet to try it out. That menu ends at 10.00p.m. but untill 02.00a.m. there is a smaller menu for snacks.

Comparison: most expensive

Directions: MAYDAY-bar is on 1st floor (USA:2nd floor) of the hangar-7-museum. Take the lower path from the museum of the stairs from the entrance.

Restaurant IKARUS: food flying high

Restaurant IKARUS is the highlight for Gourmets in the Hangar-7 museum. This excellent restaurant is to be found on the 1st floor (USA: 2nd floor), above the "Carpe Diem-Cafe"
They have a system of "guest-cooks", staying for just 1 month, so the variety is much better here than in many other restaurants, read more about it at their web-page !

Restaurant IKARUS is open daily :
from 12.00 noon till 02.00p.m. + 06.30p.m. - 10.00p.m.
every 1st monday of the month it is closed for lunch !
(That gives the new guest-cook time to
get accquainted with the kitchen & staff)
But the opening-times in the evening stay the same
also for that day !

Favorite Dish: I did not yet taste anything there, because it was closed, while I was in the museum. This will certainly be the perfect place for special events and private festivities !

Cafe Glockenspiel: Cafe Glockenspiel & the best view

Cafe Glockenspiel certainly has the best view and panorama.
Just a few steps from the Residenz, close to the "Residenz-fountain" and opposite of the Mozart-monument.

Favorite Dish: Have some coffe and try Salzburger Nockerl.

Be prepared that in high season this is not a place to enjoy the whole afternoon, but as soon as you finished, someone will be staring at your table untill you are leaving...
