Schloß Hellbrunn and the water gardens

Favorite thing: Schloß Hellbrunn is an absolute MUST !

It is about 6 Km south of the City centre of Salzburg.
The the local bus in order to get there, or go with your own car - they have a big parking directely at Schloss Hellbrunn.

Fondest memory: Visit the famous water-gardens - a unique garden with hidden fountains at many places - a good chance to refresh on a hot summer-day...
BUT when you stay with the guide, you may see, when-ever he turns on the water at hidden places.

Salzburg seen from Mönchsberg The Moenchsberg Review

Favorite thing: Mönchsberg is a small hill - and you may walk to the top or take an elevator - the charge is about 2,- € for both ways

Fondest memory: and from Mönchsberg you will have a great view of the city, see the river Salzach and the castle

Since march 2003 this lift and the terrace are closed, due to reconstruction works ! The way it looked it will NOT be open again before end of 2004 !!!

Die alte f.e.Hofapotheke - interior

Favorite thing: The old pharmacy has a really great interior - but they also have a sign on the door saying : NO PHOTOGRAPHY !!!

Fondest memory: It is a pity, but understandable, as business is rather heavy and tourists looking around and taking pics would disturb the business a lot

Fondest memory: For a very long time a "Fürst-Erzbischof" was the regent of Salzburg in a combination of Archibishop AND Prince

Favorite thing: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born here in this house Gerteidegasse 9 on January 27th, 1756

Fondest memory: The former livingrooms of Mozart in the 3rd floor are a museum today, showing different instruments of Mozart and his father Leopold Mozart, who was a violinist and music-teacher

Fondest memory: It was built in 1695 just in order to wash the horses before the returned to the stables

These places existed in every big town, but this one survived all the centuries, as it was built with all these ornaments and paintings

Cafe Glockenspiel and Salzburger Nockerl

Favorite thing: It is one of the biggest cafes in Salzburg and has a great garden-restaurant

Fondest memory: "Salzburger Nockerl" is a special dessert, similar to a soufflé - it simply consists of eggs,sugar and just a small portion of flour - mostly it is served for a minimum of 2 persons

It is not easy to prepare it and so not many restaurants outside of Salzburg will serve it

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Favorite thing: Mozart was born here in Salzburg and in Getreidegasse you may see the house where he was born

Fondest memory: Maybe you will attend one of the many concerts of his Music, while in Salzburg

Pferdeschwemme

Favorite thing: Pferdeschwemme - a place where horses could be washed

Fondest memory: This baroque fountain is situated just below the Mönchsberg and when you click on the pic you may see the beautiful ornaments and paintings of the fountain

Mirabell-platz

Favorite thing: Mirabellplatz - just outside Mirabellgarten will be the main station to start a citytour or the sightseeing-tour for the fans of "Sound of Music"
