Getting TO/AROUND: First a good message: This is the ONLY accident I saw, while in Rome - and it was part of a movie, playing in the center of Rome.
But I saw plenty of 'almost accidents', drivers do not care at all for trafic-lights, lots of scooter-drivers waiting on the zebra-crossing for the green light to come, not caring at all about pedestrians, who have to step around them.
I once had a car coming against me ON the Zebra-crossing, as he could get a parking lot that way before anotherone got it...
Cars park at any possible place, including Zebra-crossings, end of sidewalks... and nobody cares, how wheelchairs or elderly persons could cross the streets.
And the Police absolutely does not care about it !

Sounds like getting a ticket for public transportation is almost more trouble than it's worth. I guess a traveler must just walk their way through rome. Nice reading about your page again. | EllenH Sat Sep 11, 2004 22:02 UTC
