The Illawarra Museum

The Illawarra Museum is a museum about the Illawarra-district, that is the area around of Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama in the south of Sydney. This building was built in 1882 as the Post Office of Woolongong.

The townhall of 1927

This facade of the townhall of 1927 is nothing else than a mural on one of the back-walls of a museum of fine arts. You will find some other murals there as well - see them in my other pictures here. You will find it opposite of the new townhall and the tourist-information and next to the theatre.

The old Court-Houses of 1858

Yes, 1858 that is in fact quite old for Australia, that was settled at the beginning of the 19th century. From 1858 till 1903 this building was used as a courthouse, then it became the Army Drill till 1973 and finally it was used for the headquarters of the Naval Reserve Cadets till 1999.
Nowadays the old courthouse is the Environment and Heritage Centre of Wollongong.
